"Did you know there's over eighty-five million cameras in America?"
He furrowed his eyebrows with a slight head tilt, closing and locking the door behind him. He then turned back to you as you sat in the middle of the floor surrounded by opened books, files, and papers. You were biting the tip of your pen in thought, holding a paper in front of your face as you sat in the center criss cross, completely unfazed by how it all looked.
"Nine thousand are connected to the police department in New York City alone." You continued and he took off his jacket, hanging it on the back of the door, but your eyes were still on the paper in front of you.
"But of course, Beijing holds the record for the most."
He didn't respond, just looked at you puzzled, and when he sat in a chair nearby, leaning on his elbows, you finally looked up at him and said,
"One point fifteen million just in the city."
"I'm sorry, what?"
"Cameras." You told him, going back to your research.
"No," He shook his head, resting his chin on his hand, "I mean, what's going on here?"
"I want access." You shrugged nonchalantly and he raised his eyebrows, turning his head a bit in surprise.
"To Beijing?"
"To the cameras," You huffed, "Aren't you paying attention?"
"I know the mission took a few days, but-"
"You've been taking a lot of those lately." You mumbled, but he ignored it, continuing.
"I didn't think I'd come back to this."
You glanced around, seeing what he meant, and sighed to yourself in defeat.
"I want a mission," You admitted more to yourself than him, "I miss it and now I'm just looking for a new challenge."
"So, cameras."
"Correct."
"Sweetheart, I can put you on a mission."
"Two weeks," You reminded him with a smirk, "We have two weeks left."
"What?" He scrunched his face before it relaxed with realization, "I wasn't talking about-"
"Sorry," You laughed, "Just been on my mind lately."
"Me too."
"So, this mission," You started to organize everything in front of you, "Can it be dangerous?"
"I could bring you in as an undercover consultant for something in South America." He shrugged with a small smile, reaching down to help.
"I've only been to a few places down there," You smiled at the thought, "Fell in love with Brazil though."
"Maybe we could make a stop after."
"You'd want to go to Brazil?" You asked as you stood up and put everything in a few piles on the table as he did the same, "We could stay for a few days if you don't have to get back."
"I've actually been going on back to back missions so I could have some time off," He smiled to himself, "Thought we could get away and maybe..."
"Maybe what?" You leaned up to kiss him when he turned you to wrap his arms around your waist.
"How do you feel about weddings?" He asked shyly, kissing your forehead when you pull away to cock an eyebrow at him.
"Who's getting married?" You mused lightly and he chuckled, swaying you a bit in his arms.
"Hopefully the most intelligent, beautiful, cunning, and charming woman I know," He started, and you raised your eyebrows, "To a world war two veteran who doesn't deserve her."
"He sounds old," You teased, and he laughed as you ran your hands up and down his arms, "But if I was her, being the amazing woman that she is," You smirked and he grinned widely before laughing when you added, "I'd say she'd be foolish not to because he sounds like a humble man with a great ass."
"So, ace," He kissed you before continuing when you went to tease him about the nickname, "Wanna get married in Brazil?"
"I'll pack my bags." You winked and he cupped your face, kissing you deeply.
"I love you."
"I love you too, sunshine."
The End.
