"Fuck, it's been a while."
He groaned the words out and you clawed at his back as he pushed completely in, at a loss for words. He held you like that for a long moment, enjoying the feeling he's missed so terribly, and you smiled up at him except when he would move a little and then your eyebrows would furrow again, yours lips pursing to stop your moan from slipping. He kissed your forehead so lovingly before making his way down to your lips again, starting to move.
He took his time, relishing in the feeling and making sure not to hurt you. When you threw your head back against the pillows, his lips attached to your neck, hitting both your spots at once. He smiled when you let out a loud moan and he knew you were close. He knew your body better than anyone and he knew how to drive you wild, tease you just enough, and bring you to your finish in minutes if he wanted to.
The coil snapped without much warning and you clenched tightly around him, making him groaned into your neck.
"There you go, doll," He moaned out, trying not to reach his own peak, "Just like that."
He kept going as you came down from your high, not giving you any time to recover from it before the overstimulation made you whimper.
"One more, sweetheart," He whispered hotly into your ear and you winced, "You've got it, come on."
He picked up his pace and the feeling in your middle returned, seeking out another end. Your whimpers became moans, pleading him to let you finish, and he reached between the two of you to get you there faster.
"Steve." You moaned out just as you finished, not as strong as the first, but enough to make you see white again.
"Fuck, Y/n." He groaned, burying his face into your neck as his peak came when yours tipped him over.
He rolled over gently and pulled you into his side, still panting heavily, but now with a blissful smile across his face. The two of you laid there for a long while, nothing and everything to say, but not wanting to break this trance.
"It's beautiful here." You whispered dreamily when the time was right and he squeezed you a bit closer, smile still on his face as his eyes fell shut.
"You always said it was."
You hummed, kissing his chest lightly, and then the two of you dozed off for a bit. When you woke up, you slipped on a silk robe and took a cup of tea out onto the terrace. It was barely two in the afternoon, but he was exhausted from the trip here, so you let him sleep.
It all felt like a dream, being here with him, and watching the city now was different. Your bare feet hit the cold tile and you sighed at how it contrasted to your warm skin. Your body ached for him, craved him in every way, and being with him in like that was like giving an alcoholic a drink. You had wanted so badly to give it up, finally just be free, but he tethered you to everything you always told yourself you weren't.
You tightened the belt around your robe when the summer breeze picked up and then a pair of strong arms came to wrap around you. You smiled, letting your head lull back on his shoulder and he kissed the top of it before letting out a deep, content sigh. He had thrown on a tee shirt and boxers before coming out here and even though it's France and very few people would be phased by it, he wouldn't be convinced to go shirtless outside.
"I have to ask," You spoke up when he started kissing your neck lazily and he hummed against your skin in response, "Who else knows you're here?"
"I flew myself."
"What?" You spun around in his arms to search his face frantically, wishing you heard him wrong, "You took a SHIELD-"
"No, no, no," He shook his head, kissing your lips to relax your features, "I'm not stupid, I know they track those, I rented a helicopter in a different name."
You let out a sigh of relief, your heartbeat going back to normal before you smirked.
"Guess I've taught you well."
"Sam and Bucky might know though," He grimaced, and you narrowed your eyes, so he added in his defense, "Sam has the connection and Bucky's my best friend."
"How is everybody?" You asked quietly and he kissed your forehead, "They're okay?"
"No," He told you honestly, secretly hoping it would convince you to fly back with him, "Wanda and Queens are the worst. Tony's been living in denial and even Romanoff can't talk about it. Scott only comes around for missions and Thor and Loki haven't been seen since we gave them the news."
You were thrown back by what he was telling you. Sure, you knew it'd be a tough adjustment and you can't imagine if it was the other way around with any of them, but to hear it put so plainly was something else. It's been almost six months and they were still going through all this; you could tell it was recent by how he spoke, and you figured by now you'd be a past memory that they looked back on with sad smiles.
"...Carol and Fury get pissed whenever you're brought up, so people make sure to avoid the topic altogether now."
"You exaggerate." You mumbled, tears pricking your eyes as you turned away to face the city you chose again.
He didn't say anything because you both knew he was just telling you the truth in simple terms.
He didn't go into how he hasn't seen Peter smile since that day and Wanda still can't stop crying. He didn't tell you how Tony stays in the lab more than he doesn't and keeps the equipment you came in with on a high shelf, so Dum-e doesn't accidentally ruin it with the fire extinguisher. Or how Fury is constantly irritated, internally blaming himself for ever thinking you'd survive those two years with how SHIELD was running you ragged. Or the way Thor asked about you visiting Asgard a few days after and he still hadn't heard. How Steve had to tell him, and he had to then tell Loki who tried to murder New York again for it. He wasn't let out of Asgard, but the plans he spoke of were enough to keep everyone on high alert. Natasha, Carol, and a few others are always on edge, constantly looking for missions just so they have something to punch, not wanting to stop for one second and then have to deal with the loss.
Instead, he asked the one thing he's been praying for, the one thing in this whole world he wants, and was terrified to ask, but he knew he couldn't go on without knowing.
"Will you come back with me?"
