Hey! It's been a while! I always said I planned to edit and update First at Last. That was always true, but when I wrote it, I was in high school and things were relatively easy. Since then, life has been so busy. But, through it all, I never forgot that I promised to make edits and updates to First at Last.
A couple of years ago, I finally got around to it. Every critique I got in the comments, I made a note of and took to heart as I edited. The feedback always meant so much to me, because it meant people saw potential in my work and knew it could be better. Of course, it wasn't always fun to know that people didn't think it was perfect, and my confidence definitely took a hit in the beginning. But because of the feedback, I was able to see how I could change my story to be better and it really helped me to grow in my craft as a writer, knowing what my weak areas were and how I could fix things.
It took me a while to determine if I wanted to make the edits to the original work, this one, or not, because I made some pretty significant changes. In the end, I decided that I would just publish an "updated version," because I know that change is not always accepted or welcome and people always told me how much this story meant to them. I didn't want to take that away from anyone.
I am so grateful to all of you for your support and love of First at Last. It has meant so much to me over the years. It was the first book I ever wrote and I have always been so proud of it. It makes me so happy that it has meant so much to so many people since the beginning.
One day, I plan to publish many books and I hope that you all are there for that too! But, in the meantime, I have published an updated version of First at Last, if you want to read it. Thank you all so much for being the best readers ever!
