As they fought their way deeper into the forest, Maria and Kalan reached the source of the corruption. A massive, twisted tree stood before them, its bark blackened and oozing with malevolence. From its branches hung the bodies of fallen creatures, their life force drained to fuel the dark magic.
Maria's eyes blazed with fury. "This abomination must be destroyed."
She gathered her power, drawing on the strength of the earth, the sky, and the waters. With a powerful incantation, she unleashed a torrent of energy upon the tree. Kalan joined her, his spear glowing with divine light.
The tree writhed and shrieked, its branches lashing out in a final attempt to defend itself. But their combined might was too great. With a deafening roar, the tree collapsed, its dark energy dissipating into the air.
