Taylor's eyes fluttered open, the morning light streaming through the curtains and stinging her sensitive eyes. She groaned, her body aching from the cramps that had her doubled over in pain. Her mind was foggy and her stomach was churning, the familiar signs of her time of the month. But as she stretched out in the bed, something felt off. She reached down to touch herself, already knowing the answer, and felt the familiar wetness between her legs. It was the first time they'd slept together in over a month.
She glanced over at Travis, his sleeping form a sight she'd missed desperately. His broad chest rose and fell with each deep breath, his dark hair mussed from where she'd been tangled in it all night. She wanted nothing more than to crawl back into his arms and bury herself against his warmth, but then she noticed the telltale red stain on the sheets beneath her.
Panic rose in her throat as she realized she'd bled through her favorite overnight pad. The embarrassment was instantaneous and all-consuming. What would Travis think? He'd probably be disgusted and never want to sleep with her again. She wanted to crawl into a hole and die. But there was no escaping the truth: she'd ruined the bed and she had no idea how to fix it.
She shifted carefully, trying not to make any noise that might wake Travis, and peeled the soiled pad from her body. The blood had stained her underwear as well, and she quickly tossed them aside, feeling a fresh wave of shame wash over her. She glanced around the room, searching for something - anything - that she could use to clean up the mess.
Travis stirred in his sleep, muttering something incoherent under his breath before rolling over and snuggling deeper into the pillows. Taylor bit her lip, debating whether or not she should wake him and ask for help. After all, it was his bed too. But the thought of him finding out this way... it was just too humiliating.
She crawled out of bed, careful not to make any noise, and tiptoed into the bathroom. In the mirror, her face was flushed with embarrassment. Her usually flawless makeup was smeared, and her hair hung limply around her shoulders. She paused for a moment, wondering what she should do. Should she clean the sheets herself or just hope that Travis wouldn't notice? Or should she confess her mistake and risk losing his trust? The thought of losing him was almost unbearable.
With a sigh, she grabbed a fresh set of sheets and a towel from the linen closet and crept back into the bedroom. She quickly stripped the soiled bedding off and replaced it with the clean set, trying to make sure everything looked as normal as possible. As she worked, she couldn't help but glance over at Travis, his chest rising and falling slowly in sleep. He looked so peaceful, so unaware of the mess she'd made.
Torn between her desire to protect him and her guilt over the situation, she decided to leave a note. Scrawling out her thoughts on a piece of hotel stationary, she confessed her mistake and begged for his forgiveness. She left the note on the nightstand, next to his alarm clock, hoping he wouldn't be too angry. After all, it was only blood.
Once the room was back in order, she crawled back into bed, careful not to disturb Travis. She lay there, staring at the ceiling, wondering if she'd made the right decision. A part of her wanted to just deal with the mess herself and spare him the embarrassment. But another part of her needed to make things right between them, even if it meant admitting her fault. She sighed softly, wishing she could just go back in time and avoid this entire mess in the first place.
As the sun began to rise outside, casting a warm golden light through the window, Travis stirred in his sleep. He let out a soft groan and rolled over onto his back, stretching his arms above his head. Taylor held her breath, her heart racing as she waited for him to wake up. Would he notice the note? Would he be angry? She wished she could read his mind, but all she could do was wait.
