Alan

I walk into the office, my footsteps echoing off the cold, sleek walls. I'm not thrilled about being here, but it's a necessary evil. As the owner of this company, I have responsibilities, even if they don't bring me joy.

As I sit at my desk, going over reports and making decisions, my mind wanders to Crystal. I can't help but think about our conversation last night, her sharp tongue and quick wit. She's a puzzle I'm determined to figure out.

Instead of doing my work, filling out paperwork, and all that, I FaceTime Crystal. My heart beating just a little bit faster as I wait for her to answer. The phone rings for what feels like an eternity before she finally picks up. As soon as I hear her voice, I'm taken aback by the sight of her on my screen.

She's sitting at her vanity doing her makeup. Why is she doing her makeup in the middle of the day?
Crystal's eyes narrow slightly, her curiosity getting the better of her. "Why are you calling me, Alan? Shouldn't you be at work?" she asks, her tone playful but with a hint of suspicion.

I chuckle, leaning back in my chair. "I'm the boss, I can take a break whenever I want," I say, my voice smug.
Crystal raises an eyebrow, her expression skeptical. "Is that so? Well, I'm sure your employees are just thrilled to have a boss who slacks off in the middle of the day," she teases, her voice light.

I laugh, feeling a warmth spread through my chest at her playful jabs. "Hey, I'm just taking a little time to prioritize my personal life, okay?" I say, my eyes locked on hers.

Crystal gets up from her vanity, phone still in hand, and walks over to her closet. I watch as she scans her clothes, her face partially obscured by the closet door.

I sit in silence, my eyes fixed on the screen. "What are you looking for?" I ask finally, my voice low and even.

Crystal's eyes flicker back to the screen, her expression guarded. "Just trying to decide what to wear," she says, her voice neutral.

I nod, my gaze never leaving hers. "You have a lot of clothes," I observe, my tone neutral.

Crystal shrugs, her eyes dropping away from the screen. "Yeah, I guess I do."

The conversation is stilted, but I don't care. I'm not trying to be charming or witty. I'm just trying to keep the conversation going, to keep her engaged. And it seems to be working, even if it is a bit awkward.

Crystal's eyes flicker back to the screen, a hint of a smile playing on her lips. "Well, I'm going to take my dog out for a walk," she says, her voice a little brighter now. "Talk to you later".

I nod, my expression is neutral. "Later," I say, my voice low.

And with that, she hangs up, leaving me staring at the blank screen. I sit there for a moment, my mind wandering.
I can't stop thinking about Crystal, about the way she makes me feel. My body responds to her presence, even over the phone. I feel a tension in my chest, a thrumming in my veins. It's like she's awakened something in me, something I can't ignore.

I lean back in my chair, my eyes closed, and let out a slow breath. I try to focus on my work, but my mind keeps wandering back to her. Just being near her is enough to make my heart race. It's like my body is on fire, the heat pooling in my groin as I struggle to think straight.

I'm in trouble, I realize. Big trouble. Because I don't know how to resist her, and I'm not sure I want to.
After thinking for a while I get back to the paperwork on my desk.

I'm lost in thought, my mind consumed by my paperwork, when I hear a knock at the door. "Enter," I say roughly, not looking up.
The door opens, and Avery, my secretary, walks in. She's got a look in her eyes that I've seen before, a look that says she's trying to seduce me. But I'm not interested.

"What is it, Avery?" I ask, my voice cold, my eyes still fixed on the paperwork in front of me.
She approaches my desk, her hips swaying in a way that's meant to be tempting. "I just wanted to remind you about the Johnson meeting tomorrow," she says, her voice husky. I raise an eyebrow, my gaze finally shifting to her. "I don't need reminders, Avery. I'm perfectly capable of remembering my own schedule."

She lingers, her eyes roaming over my body in an almost predatory way. But I'm not having it. I've got no time for her games.

"Dismissed, Avery," I say, my voice cold, my eyes disregarding her. But she doesn't leave. Instead, she takes a step closer, her voice taking on a whiny tone. "Just a few more minutes, Alan? Please? I need to talk to you about something."
I raise an eyebrow, my expression unyielding. "No, Avery. You've got nothing I want to hear. Leave."

She begs, her eyes pleading, but I'm unmoved. Finally, she realizes she's not going to get what she wants and turns to leave, her shoulders slumped in defeat.

"Close the door behind you," I call out, my voice cold, my eyes already back on my work.
