Guilt.

It's a complex emotion, the essence of regret and shame for something we had done previously. The feeling of hurt pangs in your heart as you wrap your head around the prospect of just how royally you'd screwed up, whether you had accidentally broken a precious vase or ran someone over late at night, it's always the same story.

Our cute little drones are no strangers to this emotion, as practically all of them have had some kind of previous transgression to feel sorry for. Uzi still felt terrible when thinking about the incident back at the camp (No matter how much N tried to convince her that it wasn't her fault), N's very soul was still plagued by the resounding sorrow of his previous employment and all the families he had inevitably torn apart, V dwelled on the past and regretted her turn to the Solver and constant ignorance to N's suffering, and Tessa always felt an overwhelming sense of remorse for the manor incident and her inability to save any of the guests or stop Cyn. Everyone had baggage, and everyone dealt with guilt.

That was, except for J.

Our favourite businesswoman with a bitchy attitude to boot had never once felt a smidgen of genuine guilt. Sure, she had sometimes regretted the whole incident with decapitating Uzi, but that was mainly roused from the memory of what transpired immediately afterwards. She lived for the company, never once stopping to think about the consequences of her actions or the people she was hurting by her own ego and pride. However, nobody was ever around to tell her off for her actions, so J never saw a problem!

She was starting to wonder if this was when she was supposed to feel guilt, as Tessa berated her violently upon catching wind of just how horribly J had treated the poor boy.

"YOU WHAT!?" One wouldn't believe it, but the tone of voice Tessa was using wasn't some kind of voice filter or the result of demonic possession. No, it was very real, and was an indication that J had committed a sin so horrible that it had unveiled the deepest pits of Tessa's anger. Gone was the cheerful and happy go lucky persona Tessa usually conducted herself with, instead replaced by a rage so strong J could swear that heat was literally radiating off of her body, making the frigid air ripple around them.

"T-Tessa! Calm dow-" J was cut off when Tessa suddenly stabbed her sword down into the snow beside her, causing J to let out a startled yelp at the unexpected move. Tessa was heaving in and out slowly, her unseen expression only managing to put J further on edge. It was seldom that J yelped in such a fashion, and that was how you knew that you were scaring her. Tessa also knew this and was perfectly ready to exploit it.

"Calm down? CALM DOWN!? You have the audacity to defend your actions!? What is WRONG with you!?" Tessa bellowed at her disassembly drone companion, although Tessa was struggling to think of her as that right now. J directed her gaze downward, sheepish in the most terrified way as she tried to formulate some kind of response to the enraged human.

"DAMMIT J, ANSWER ME!" Tessa yelled again as she took a step forward, fists clenching so tight that the knuckles were on the brink of splitting altogether. J knew she had to reply with something, and decided to fire out the first excuse that came to mind.

"...I did what I had to do." Tessa felt her blood boil at that, the red liquids heating up so much inside her veins that she was worried they'd turn to vapor altogether. Of course J would say that, leave it to her to abuse N in the name of a company that couldn't give a workers arse about them. Tessa did suspect something was up, taking note of J's testimony about N's feral rampage and witnessing his passive aggressive demeanor towards her specifically. Yet, she never quite expected the context to be that bad... it made sense, why else would N command such a hatred towards J? Why now? Tessa understood him now, and she herself was glaring at J with more anger than she had ever used before.
