Yuvan's POV:

The morning sun sliced through the office blinds, each ray like jagged glass raking across my skin. I hadn’t slept worth a damn last night, my head a fucking warzone of her words, her touch, her everything.

My little one's lips still burned on my flesh, a phantom heat that wouldn’t quit, searing me from the inside out. The way she kissed me, hungry and desperate, her breath hot against my throat, her tongue teasing my pulse, it was fucking divine, a drug I couldn’t shake.

I was doomed, utterly consumed by her. My body sat in this sterile office, parked behind a desk piled with pointless papers, but my mind, my soul, hell, every shred of me was trapped back in that dimly lit room.

Her eyes had glistened, wet with tears and something darker, her voice trembling as she whispered those cursed words, blaming herself, cutting me deeper than any blade. I told her she was my strength, the only thing keeping the monster in me leashed. I meant it, every fucking syllable, with every beat of my battered heart.

But now? She’s gone silent. Not a call answered, not a text returned. Not a single word.

I clenched my jaw so tight my teeth ached, staring at the phone screen in my hand. Blank. Still fucking blank. Her silence wasn’t just quiet, it was a scream, deafening, clawing at my insides like a living thing.

My thumb hovered over her name, the contact glowing mockingly on the screen. I hit call again, my pulse hammering in my ears, each ring a fresh stab of dread. Call failed. The words flashed up, cold and final, like a door slamming shut.

I tossed the phone onto the desk, the clatter too loud in the sterile quiet, and dragged a hand through my hair, tugging hard enough to feel the sting. My chest tightened, a vise of panic and need crushing my ribs.

This wasn’t her. Suman didn’t just vanish, didn’t shut me out like this. Not after last night, not after she’d unraveled me with her lips, her hands, her body pressed against mine, soft and yielding, yet fierce enough to set my blood on fire.

I dialed the landline of the house. As Maa answered.

"Maa is Suman in the room?"

"N-No, we checked. She's not in the room."

"What do you mean she's not in the room?!"

"We thought she was with you, beta (son) We've searched the house. She's not here."

My world stood still.

I stood abruptly from my chair, knocking the glass paperweight onto the floor. It shattered, just like the sanity inside me. The room spun, my ears buzzed, and all I could see was her bloodied body that night she got stabbed.

That was when Nico called.

"Sir, I... I just checked your bedroom. The glass window is broken."

My blood froze.
