Suman's POV:

A BANG.

In that split second, my heart stopped. Not metaphorically, not poetically-it genuinely froze in terror. For a moment, I was convinced that was the last sound I'd ever heard. That the bullet now lived somewhere in my chest, and I would collapse at any moment.

But I didn't.

Instead, I blinked. Once. Twice. My ears rang from the explosion, and my legs felt like ice.

And then I saw him.

Yuvan.

He shot. His hand still held the gun. His eyes are-blazing, wild, unblinking.

The man who had pointed a gun at me was already on the ground, his chest blooming red like a cursed flower. There was no hesitation, no warning. Yuvan had pulled the trigger like he'd done it a hundred times before.

Fear took over me, The world moved in slow motion.

People were screaming. But my gaze couldn't leave him.

Why... why did he look at me like that?

Like I wasn't just his secretary. Like I was something more.

The man on the floor was dead and he killed him, he shot him-

I couldn't move.

Before I could make sense of anything, another man emerged from the chaos. His face hidden behind a half-mask, his voice rough with amusement.

He stepped forward slowly, casually. Like this was some kind of game. "Oh, I see you're scared to death, Singhania," he chuckled.

My breath hitched.

He was speaking to me.

No, not me.

"The underworld king. The walking night," he said, his voice laced with venom and mockery. He pointed, one by one, with exaggerated flair. "Is this what people call you? You? And you two?"

His fingers landed on Yuvan. Then Archit. Then Arnav.

My eyes widened. Another betrayal, he lied he wasn't something i thought, he wasn't.

"Three of you," the man continued. "We'd love to scare you more."

The room still went. Again.

Tina let out a broken gasp. Her hand flew to her mouth as she turned to look at Arnav. Her eyes screamed betrayal, confusion, fear-all rolled into one shattered moment.

Arnav didn't flinch.

His expression was like marble. Cold. Stone.

He was never real to me.
