His heart twisted painfully. He cupped her cheek with his free hand, eyes wide with a flicker of panic.
"I'm so sorry," he rasped, his voice breaking. "Did I hurt you?"
Her lips curved into a faint, sorrowful smile that pierced him deeper than any...

Suman's POV:
The day crawled forward after that, one exhausting task after another, each one sprinkled with Yuvan’s relentless demands. By the time I sat back in my cabin chair, my muscles ached from the invisible tension I carried in my body.
Just as I was ready to gather my things and leave, the shrill ring of my phone cut through the silence. I reached into my purse, fishing it out. The moment I saw the caller ID, my lips curved into a smile that felt genuine for the first time that day.
Tina.
I pressed accept.
"KAHA haii? Kaisa ja raha hai din??" (WHERE are you? How is your day going?)
Her voice practically screamed through the receiver, her usual dramatic energy vibrating into the air.
"My day isn't over yet," I sighed, leaning back into the chair with exaggerated weariness. "I'm still here, enjoying this wonderful day filled with endless orders."
"Oh, come on, Sumi. You're his personal assistant. It's your job to follow his orders, babe." She chuckled, the sound both lighthearted and infuriating because she clearly found my frustration hilarious.
"Yeah, I know," I muttered, rubbing my temple. "But wait till I get home and tell you everything. Tab tujhe samajh aayega." ( Then you'll get it )
"By the way," her tone shifted, suddenly playful. "How does he look? Is he handsome? I've heard so much about him and his so-called charm. You're so lucky, spending the whole day with our hot CEO-"
Her words stung deeper than I expected. The moment Tina mentioned him, an unexplainable flutter stirred in my chest, betraying the calm mask I always carried. My heart thudded against my ribs as if his name alone had the power to summon his presence. Lucky. Was I lucky? The thought left me conflicted.
Every second with him felt like walking on the edge of something dangerous, yet intoxicating. I could still feel the way his gaze lingered, heavy and consuming, like he could peel away every layer of me until nothing was left hidden.
And yet, there was no denying it, his charm was undeniable, almost suffocating in the way it pulled people in. Even now, the memory of his faint smirk, the rich depth of his voice, and that strange intensity in his eyes clung to me like smoke I could not escape. The very idea of Tina describing him as 'hot' made heat crawl up my neck. Not because she was wrong, but because it was too close to the truth I was trying to bury.
"Tina…" I cut her off, my voice stretching a little too long, betraying a hesitation I wished she would not notice. For a moment I faltered, torn between silence and confession, until the truth slipped past my lips before I could stop it. "He's the same guy we saw at the club."
