chapter 5 meeting the band

Lewis comes into the room after Lizzy leaves I'm sitting on the bed phone in my lap staring at the wall. He tried to snap me out of it sitting next to me his hand on my knee looking into my eyes me still not looking at him.

" Layla... can you hear me."

" Hmmm" I respond still looking at the wall.

" What did Mr. Jeffres say?"

" There is a court meeting tomorrow at 3."

" Love that's a good thing".

" Ugh why did we do this what the hell were we thinking that night." I say with my head in my hands.

" That we love each other."

   " And I do love you but were here now"

" Baby... it'll be ok."

" You didn't go through what I did thinking you killed your own child."

He sits with me for a bit holding me calming me down I sat in his arms I don't know why I block him out. But I can't let him get to close just in case he leaves I can't get hurt like that again not by him.

" You know you should meet my band your goanna meet them at some point anyway."

" Babe... I'm not good with people."

" Aww come on you'll be fine it's just my brother and a friend."

" How many people?"

" I don't know my brother is having a party I'll be there with you the whole time."         

" Fine but if I have to dance, I'm leaving."

Later that night we get his bothers place and there are a lot of cars and people I look at Lewis, he gives me a smile. I roll my eyes then take his hand and we walk in and down the stairs to the party. The room is packed with people. He leads me to his brother Marshall I saw on the roof oh no.

" Hey Mash."

" Hey baby bro is this her?"

" Yeah, this is Layla."

" Hey Layla, nice to see you again." 

" Nice to see you too." I say shaking his hand 

I see my old friend coming over he was in a band with Louis!?

 " Layla...?

" Nick."

 Lewis looks shocked " wait you two know each other?

" I babysat her we've been best friends' snice we were kids."

" You knew him all along."

" I didn't you were looking for her you missed my wedding looking for her."

" I was at the wedding." I say laughing. 

Lewis and I could've been together all along well that's a bit annoying to say lest I went to talk to Nick and Lewis talked to his brother.

" So, how's the girl of your dreams baby bro?"

 " Ok she is really stressed, and she has this thing ware when she is stressed, she shuts me out." 

" Oh, have asked her why."

" Her mom left her when she was young, she never knew why her dad forced her into a life she didn't want. she got hit by a car when she had Evin in her she blacked out for a few days her dad sighed him for adoption and told her he was dead."

" Holy shit and I thought our childhood was bad no wonder she has trust problems."

" I know and I would never hold that agents her I just wish there was something I could do to show her I'm never going to do that to her."

 " Do you still love her?"

" Of cores I do when she doesn't block me out, she is so cute and cuddly, funny."

" Then stay with her I know how hard it was, and I had you she had no one."

   " Thanks Mash."

I see Lewis and I'm starting to get overwhelmed people are asking me about Lewis things I don't know. Nick tries to help and goes to get Lewis, Lewis he gets in-between me and the crowd telling them to stop. His brother comes to help to I rap my arms around Lewis's waist holding him tight my cheek to his back. My eyes are closed shut, breathing fast and heart ponding he can feel how scared I am trying to comfort me getting them back. I rush outside and Lewis fallows me I start walking down Lewis catches up walking beside me.

" Hey you ok. "

" Fine."

" I'm so sorry I didn't know that was going to happen."

" Can we just go home."

" Yeah, I told my brother we were leaving."

We headed home I don't know why I got so upset but I was I felt like crying it just hurt so when we got home, I just flopped on the bed and cried. Lewis saw me rubbing my back he knew I wasn't used to that. I rolled over looking at him he lied down beside me still rubbing my back I placed my head on his chest.

" Do you want to talk about it?"

" I don't know what to say..."

" That's ok."

We lied there for a bit till we fell asleep he always made me feel safe even if he did not know what was wrong. My home was him and Evin in Chicago this was all I ever wanted. It was crazy to think this time tomorrow we could have it all or are going lose everything. That night I could not sleep a wink the nerves keeping me up with worry fearing the unknown. I stayed in bed waiting for sleep it felt like it did not come for hours.
