A couple of days later after some rather forced rest and relaxation I was allowed out of our bedroom as the boys had some business that couldn’t wait any longer. They had been overly attentive for the last few days to the point it was becoming slightly annoying. After finding out about the babies it was like all the symptoms came on at once. Almost the next time I ate food it all came back up within the hour, the dizzy spells were less thanks to some of the tablets I was now taking but I’d had to have a very uncomfortable conversation with Marcus about my bowel movements before he gave me an iron injection. All in all I was looking forward to just relaxing outside and getting some fresh air. I stretched after my morning exercises, enjoying the feeling of all my muscles moving and stretching. I exited out of our bedroom’s french doors and clocked the subtle movement of my guard as they changed positions based on my movements. I followed the spiral staircase down into the enclosed garden and followed the path out onto the packlands. I stood for a minute just looking around at all the members doing their daily activities or walking their children to wherever they were going. It struck me that I was now connected to all of these wolves. I could link every single one of them individually or all of them as a group, it made me feel like part of something, like
I might actually matter. The sun was bright in the sky and I had to shade my eyes as I looked out across the grass and tried to decide if I wanted to go for a walk around the lake or a walk in the forest. Angel always preferred the forest even if we couldn’t shift in our current condition. She loved being surrounded by the trees and nature. I adored the lake, it shimmered in the sun and hummed with life but currently it made my need to pee exponentially worse so Angel won the internal argument and we set off towards the woods. I
was just opening the mind link to my guards and the boys to tell them my plans when a weird smell hit my nose, it was a thick sort of smell but the aroma made me heave. I’d learnt quite quickly that at least 2 of my guards got nauseous if I threw up in front of them so I darted behind a tree to throw up what was left of my breakfast. I started to straighten up, going slowly so I didn’t make myself dizzy but the smell was here too, it felt heavy like I was breathing in a liquid and my nostrils were burning as I tried to focus on the sudden feeling of unease in the back of my mind. I tried again to open the mind link but I was too dizzy, something was very wrong and I’d accidentally taken myself out of the guard's direct sightline. A cloth fell over my eyes and descended to cover my nose and mouth, this too was
soaked in whatever chemical was killing my senses. I felt my head pulled back onto a bony shoulder as I fought the encroaching darkness. I tried to take a deep breath to clear my mind but all I achieved was inhaling a face full of cloth and a hint of mint before everything went dark.
