Affection

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce had been dating for about two months, a relationship so new and delicate that only their families knew about it. The world had yet to glimpse the budding romance, and for now, they were happy keeping it under wraps, away from prying eyes and paparazzi lenses.

Taylor's previous relationships had been challenging in different ways, but one recurring theme was how her affection was often deemed "too much." Her last boyfriend, Joe, had been particularly critical of her need for physical closeness. He labeled her as "clingy" and made sure she knew it. As a result, Taylor had started holding back, even though she naturally craved the comfort of touch.

Travis, on the other hand, was not only physically expressive but also instinctively felt that Taylor shared this same need for closeness. Yet, he noticed she seemed hesitant, almost like she was holding herself back. It wasn't like the vibrant, open-hearted Taylor he admired. Tonight, as they cuddled on the couch at his apartment in Kansas City, he decided it was time to gently address this feeling.

They were watching a movie, Taylor tucked into Travis's side, her head resting on his broad shoulder. His arm was draped around her, fingers lightly tracing patterns on her arm. It was the little moments like this that Travis treasured—the simple, quiet intimacy that came so naturally to him.

The movie droned on in the background, a comfortable hum that cocooned them in their private world. Taylor had been unusually still for the past hour, her hands clasped in her lap. Travis finally turned to her, his voice soft and inquisitive.

"Hey, Tay," he began, nudging her slightly to get her attention. "Can I ask you something?"

She looked up at him, her blue eyes wide and curious. "Of course."

He paused, choosing his words carefully. "Do you... not like physical touch? I mean, like, does it make you uncomfortable when I... when we're close like this?"

Her brows furrowed, and for a moment, she seemed puzzled by the question. "Why would you think that?"

Travis shrugged, trying to keep the conversation light despite the weight of his concerns. "I don't know. Sometimes it feels like you're holding back. Like you're afraid of being too close or something."

Taylor's face softened, and she let out a small sigh. "It's not that I don't like it. I love it, actually. It's just..." She hesitated, gathering her thoughts. "In my past relationships, especially with Matty, I was always told I was too clingy. They didn't like how much I needed to touch, to be close. So, I guess I've been trying not to be overbearing with you."

Travis's heart ached at her words. He tightened his hold on her, pulling her even closer. "Tay, I would never see you as clingy. Honestly, I crave this, too. I love being close to you. It would be hypocritical of me to feel otherwise when I'm just as affectionate."

Taylor's eyes searched his, finding nothing but sincerity and warmth. A smile began to form on her lips, a smile that reached her eyes and lit up her entire face. "Really?"

"Really," Travis assured her, leaning down to press a gentle kiss to her forehead. "You don't have to hold back with me. I want all of you, every part of you, and that includes how you express your love."

It was as if a weight had been lifted off Taylor's shoulders. She felt a rush of relief and happiness, and in that moment, she knew she didn't have to hide or suppress any part of herself with Travis. They sat there for a while, wrapped in each other's arms, the movie long forgotten.

From that moment on, their relationship shifted in the best possible way. Taylor no longer felt the need to restrain her affection. Whether it was holding hands, a light touch on the back as they passed each other, or sneaking kisses whenever they had a chance, they were always connected in some way.

When they went out for dinner, Taylor's hand would rest comfortably on Travis's arm or they would walk with their fingers entwined. At home, if she was reading a book, Travis would often pull her onto his lap, content to just hold her as he scrolled through his phone or answered emails.

One evening, they were at Taylor's place, a cozy townhouse in Nashville. She was curled up on the couch, engrossed in a novel, when Travis came in from the kitchen with two mugs of hot chocolate. Without a word, he set them down on the coffee table and scooped her up, settling her onto his lap. Taylor giggled, her book falling to the side, and wrapped her arms around his neck.

"Comfortable?" he asked, his eyes twinkling with amusement.

"Perfectly," she replied, leaning in to kiss him softly.

This became their routine, a seamless blend of lives and hearts. Travis's family noticed how he seemed more at peace, happier than they had ever seen him. Taylor's family saw her glowing in a way she hadn't in a long time. They understood that this relationship was different—it was built on mutual respect and an unspoken understanding of each other's needs.

On Sundays, they would often spend lazy afternoons at Taylor's house, lounging on the porch swing, Taylor nestled into Travis's side. They'd watch the world go by, talking about everything and nothing, their fingers entwined, a constant reassurance of their connection.

When Taylor had to go on tour or Travis had to leave for a game, their goodbyes were always long and filled with promises to stay close, no matter the distance. Travis would hold her tightly, whispering words of encouragement and love, while Taylor would savor every moment of their embrace, memorizing the feel of his arms around her until they could be together again.

During one particularly busy week, Travis had back-to-back games, and Taylor was swamped with studio sessions and planning for her upcoming tour. Despite their hectic schedules, they made time for each other, even if it was just a quick FaceTime call where they'd fall asleep with their phones on, listening to each other breathe.

One night, after a grueling game, Travis returned home exhausted but elated. They had won, and all he wanted was to share the joy with Taylor. He called her, and even though it was late, she picked up immediately, her voice warm and full of love.

"Hey, superstar," she greeted him, her smile evident even through the screen.

"Hey yourself," he replied, his voice thick with fatigue and happiness. "I wish you were here."

"Me too," Taylor said softly. "But I'm always with you, you know that, right?"

Travis nodded, his heart swelling with affection. "Yeah, I know. I love you, Tay."

"I love you, too, Travis."

The following morning, Taylor surprised him by showing up at his doorstep, a bag slung over her shoulder and a huge smile on her face. "I couldn't stay away," she said simply, and Travis pulled her into a fierce hug, lifting her off her feet and spinning her around.

As their relationship deepened, they both found solace and joy in their shared love for touch. They became experts in silent communication, understanding each other's needs with just a glance or a gentle caress. Taylor's friends and family noticed how relaxed and happy she seemed, her natural warmth and affection no longer subdued or hidden.

One evening, they hosted a small gathering at Travis's place, inviting their close friends and family. It was a beautiful night, filled with laughter and music. As the evening wound down, Taylor and Travis found themselves sitting together on the porch steps, her head resting on his shoulder, his arm wrapped around her.

"You know," Taylor began, her voice soft and content, "I used to be so scared of being too much, of wanting too much. But with you, it feels like... I can just be myself. Thank you for that."

Travis turned to her, his eyes full of love. "You're never too much, Tay. You're exactly enough. And I'm the luckiest guy in the world because I get to be with you."

Taylor smiled, a tear slipping down her cheek, and she leaned in to kiss him, pouring all her love and gratitude into that moment. They stayed like that for a while, wrapped in each other, savoring the peace and the connection they had found together.

As the stars twinkled above them, they knew that their journey had only just begun. They were ready to face whatever challenges the world might throw at them, confident in the strength of their bond and the love they shared. And no matter what, they would always have each other—holding hands, sharing kisses, and staying close in every way that mattered.
