The sound of the wind brushing through the fauna outside your dorm's window woke you. It was your first day in the dorm, you sighed, putting your head in your hands as you saw your still unpacked suitcase on the ground, with underwear and socks strewn across the floor.

Crap. Today's my first class. You cringed at the thought of meeting your classmates, but leaped out of bed to go wash up. You press your phone's home button, the time read 7:30. Class starts in literally 15 minutes. I need to get ready quickly. Toothbrush still in your mouth, you tip toe over the cold floor to your kitchen area, slamming a ready-made bento box into the microwave and turning it on.

Deep breaths. Gojo wanted me to wait outside as he announced my arrival. I tried to decide how I'm going to greet the class. Friendly? No, I'd just be annoying. Neutral? My best bet. Rude? Also a good option. I tried not to forget my name as I anticipated my cue to enter.

"Aaaand come in, new student! Wahoooo!"

I held my breath as I walked through the door. It doesn't matter how I act, classmates and friends are expendable.

Gojo did weird jazz hands as I took my place at the front of the class. Only 3 students? I scanned the room as I got mixed signals from the class. A panda. Some girl. And some other guy. A panda?! Gojo urged them all to clap, but alas nobody did. Shame welled up in my throat but I maintained my monotone expression.

"I'm (Y/N L/N). Nice to meet you."
"Aaaalrighty! Since these fine students are acting all cool. Let's introduce everyone, nice and quickly."

I exhaled sharply. I was really trying to like this Gojo guy.

"This is the cursed tool user, Maki Zen'in. She uses special tools to exorcise curses." Maki Zen'in. She seemed cold. She was a tall slim girl with green hair and glasses. I forced a small smile, yet she just looked at me, coldly. Whatever then, this just sets my attitude towards the rest of the class. I withdrew my smile and looked away. Expendable.

"This is the cursed speech user, Toge Inumaki. He can only speak in rice ball ingredients so have fun chatting." What a freak. I looked at the pale boy. He had a scarf around the lower half of his face. I probably would have bullied him in middle school. He put up his hand and said "Kelp." I shot him with a piercing stare, not responding at all. What the fuck did that even mean anyway. He quickly put his hand down and looked away, fiddling with the zip of his collar.
Definitely expendable.

"And Panda!"
"Hi, I'm Panda. It's nice to meet you." Alright, a bit of respect. You nodded your head at him and then looked away. I have no idea how this freak of nature is talking to me but he seems like the better one in the class.
Still expendable.

I walked over to sit in the free seat at the front, next to the rice ball boy. So weird. I tried not to look as I carefully sat down to try and not make that much noise.

Gojo cleared his throat and smiled. "For your afternoon jujutsu practice, you'll be in pairs of two on two!"
"Toge and Panda, you're one pair."
"And Maki! You're with (Y/N)."

"D'oh!" Did she really just.. what a bitch. I sighed in response, unpleasant tension was already building between me and my classmates. We left the classroom and were walking down the hallway. Is it always this awkward? It was so quiet.

"You." Maki turned to me.

"You already think you're better than everyone, don't you."
"Huh?" You matched her cold stare.
"Believe me, nobody here is going to bend for you. Do you think acting so nonchalant is gonna impress anyone? You're already an idiot."
"Talking down on me like that, you seem to fit that 'I'm better than everyone' mentality more than I do." I snapped back.

"Maki. That's enough of that." Panda came to my defence. He's not so bad. A "Bonito flakes." followed in a stern tone.
"Okay, Fine. Get off my case."

I clicked my tongue. What a hypocrite. A paw placed itself on my shoulder as a means of reassurance. "Sorry about her. She has a bad habit of thinking she has the authority on mind-reading." I chuckled. "She's not wrong." I replied, brushing his paw away and briskly walking away. Him and Inumaki looked at each other, puzzled.

The wind kissed my scarred cheek as we arrived at the training field. There was a running track stretching around a plane of grass. Gojo didn't follow, so I guess we could do whatever we wanted.

"Okay, (Y/N). Since you're new, we wanna see what you can do. Have a training match with Maki." Panda flashed you an assuring smile and you nodded, following her to the grass in the middle. Inumaki and Panda sat on the steps, watching you both.

"I hope you can catch up. For your own sake." Maki taunted as we stretched in preparation.
"Same goes for you." We took our stances and a brief gust of wind blew, interrupting the silence between us as we glared at each other. Maki drew her cursed weapon from its case. A cursed tool? I wonder how that works.

I had done some martial arts training in the days leading up to my interview with the principal. I tried to incorporate my cursed energy as much as I could, balancing it in my body so it wouldn't burn as much as it did before. I won't say I got good at it, but I managed to throw some impressive punches imbued in cursed energy in the little time I had. But these were second year students. That wasn't going to be enough. I had to rely on my martial arts skills to not make a fool of myself on the first day.

I tightened my fists and clenched my core.
