"Fuck!" Chan hissed, slamming the door harshly behind him. He looked to his members who were panting just as heavily as him, some holding their chest while others literally laying on the ground. "Are you guys okay?"
"I'm fine." Jisung mumbles weakly, the first to answer. He looks at the door fearfully, his lip trembling. "That time was too close."
"Agreed." Minho chimed in, stepping up. He glared at Chan, pushing him aside so he could look through the peephole. "Not to mention, we are completely surrounded. We aren't getting out of here anytime soon."
An awkward silence filled the room as the tension was high. After being trapped together for over a year, breathing the wrong way could make someone snap. This little bump in the road for them didn't help either.
"I'll... I'll cook us a meal." Felix finally says, breaking the awkward silence. He grabbed the backpacks full of supplies and managed to drag it to their pathetic-makeshift kitchen. Honestly, Felix was the only one who hasn't had an angry outburst against another member.
Hyunjin stands up, wobbling a bit before puking all over the floor. Minho and Changbin quickly grab him, helping him maintain balance as he wipes his mouth with the back of his hand. The taste on his tongue was disgusting but he ignored it, trying to stop the shaking in his body.
"I thought we were gonna die." He admits weakly, collapsing into Minho's arms. He was speaking for the members of their little survivor clan. Everyone here didn't think they were gonna get past that horde, especially being cornered by the train station.
"But we didn't." Chan stated firmly, his leadership instincts kicking in. He grabs both of the maknaes, pulling them closer to the group.
"We didn't" He repeats again, more so to convince himself. If he was going to be completely honest, that was the scariest moment in his life. Not even because of the zombies but because he wasn't able to protect his friends. When it came down to it, all Chan could think about was how he could survive, not the group. He felt disgusted with himself.
"Yeah, but we almost." Seungmin stated bluntly, cutting through everyone's voice with his flat, monotone one. Though, no matter how nonchalant he tried to seem, the fear was evident in the paleness in his skin. "We keep having to go farther and farther for supply runs, the zombies just keep multiplying; everything is getting riskier."
Everyone stayed silent at his words, knowing he was exactly right. He hated how right he was. The supplies in their area just keep getting lower and lower with each supply run.
"Hey guys, I tried to make it taste as best as possible with the little spices we have-"
Felix cuts himself off as he walks in, feeling the awkward and heavy air between everyone. He frowns, noticing seven pairs of somber eyes on him.
"Uh, did I say something?"
They all just stare at him. It's not like they were trying to make the tension so thick. They were all trapped in their own thoughts, their own dark minds. Their thoughts just kept getting worse and worse everyday as the infection ate at it. Some of them wondered if there was another form of infection that made them think this way.
"No." Jeongin whispers softly, walking up to Felix and placing a hand on his shoulder. He smiles softly at the confused boy, leading him back into the kitchen. "Let's all just eat now."
What was wrong with him? Why was he so hungry? He was literally eating food around the table with the others yet he couldn't help but crave more. What was this? Well, he knew what it was. He didn't want to admit it. He was scared. Scared of himself and scared if the others found out. Still... the undying hunger curled into his stomach like a snake, wrapping its long, slithering body around all of his rational thoughts.
