Violet's POV

We went home and I couldn't sleep. Everything was so loud it was overwhelming. I could hear my parents light snoring and Lizzie's mumbling as Josie tossed and turned.

I turned to the other side and covered my ears with my pillow and sighed. I couldn't sleep. I was getting frustrated and was glaring at my mug full of paintbrushes when it shattered.

I jumped. My magic hasn't acted out like that for a while and I had to have both Lizzie and Josie syphon me back then. I could hear my mom making her way over here. By her heartbeat she seemed worried.

I quickly got out of bed and picked up the pieces of the mug.

She opened the door. "Are you alright? What was that?" She asked worriedly.

" I'm fine. Just knocked over a mug." I said. I didn't want her to worry like she used to when I was young. I'm sure I could regain control.

" What are you still doing up?" She asked concerned.

I didn't say anything.

"Is everything still loud?" She asked softly and I nodded a bit embarrassed. I couldn't even control that.

She gave me a look of pity which I didn't appreciate.

"It'll get better. Just in case we'll go get you some noise cancelling headphones tomorrow okay?"

I nodded in response.

"Try to get some sleep" she said before leaving.

I laid in bed still not able to sleep. The more frustrated I got, the more out of control my magic got making the things in my room float. Which frustrated me even more.

I made my way to Lizzie's room.

"Liz?" I whispered.

"Lizzie?" I whispered shaking her gently.

"Vi?" She mumbled confused.

"What time is it?" She asked.

"3:40" I told her.

" why did you wake me up?" She groaned.

" I need a favor"

"Right now? What is it?" She asked confused with a hint of annoyance.

"Syphon me"

"What!? Why"

"Shhhhhhh" I hushed her.

"Just do it please, and don't tell mom, dad , or papa ric. Don't tell anyone." I said.

"Why? Are you okay? What's going on?" She asked worried.

" I'm fine. Just a bit... overwhelmed" I said tearing up a bit.

"Vi..." she said sympathetically reaching out and holding my hand.

"I'm fine" I sniffled and wiped my tears.

"Please just do it" I begged. "And don't tell anyone" I added.

She hesitated. "Please" I begged and she nodded. She syphoned a bit then stopped.

"Wow that was a lot of magic, sorry. Are you okay? Did I take too much? Are you feeling better?" She asked.

"I'm okay thanks. I feel a bit better. You think you could take more?" I asked.

"I don't think so Vi'. I took a lot of magic. I've never syphoned this much before." She said apologetically.

"It's fine. Thank you" I said.

"No problem. Goodnight, love you"

"Goodnight. Love you too." I responded before walking out of her room.

I still felt a bit overwhelmed so I went to Josie's room.

"Josie? Wake up" I said shaking her gently.

"Violet?" She asked confused.

"What do you want?" She asked annoyed.

"I need a favor"

"Now??" She asked in disbelief.

"Please. I just need you to syphon a little magic." I asked.

"What? Syphon? Why?" She asked.

"I just have a lot extra magic I don't want so could you please?" I asked.

"Fine" she grumbled before she syphoned some then stopped.

"A little more?" I asked.

"No Vi' that's enough. I don't think I can take more than that" she said.

I sighed. " okay, thanks. Goodnight, love you" I said.

"Goodnight, love you" she said, her eyelids already fluttering shut.

I made my way to my room. I felt better but still couldn't fall asleep due to the noise but was more relaxed. I wasn't making anything float anymore. A while later the sun started to peak through my curtains.

I decided since I was up. I might as well make breakfast for everyone. I decided to make pancakes with bacon and egg.

My hearing was still picking up every little noise in the house which annoyed me but on the bright side I knew my parents just woke up. On the not so bright side, I could hear their loud alarm.

They made their way downstairs to see me making breakfast.

"Good morning" I said.

"Good morning" they both replied in unison.

"What are you doing up so early?" Dad asked me. Stefan wasn't my biological father but he was the only father I have.

"I couldn't sleep" I said and his eyebrows furrowed, then mom spoke up.

"Did you sleep at all?" She asked. I just shrugged.

"That means no" sighed dad.

"Did you try?" My mom asked

"Of course I did but everything is so loud and annoying and it's not going away" I said annoyed.

Dad put his arm around my shoulders.

"It'll get better. We can take you to get some headphones after breakfast that you can use until you learn how to control it. Which you will. It's just really frustrating right now because all of your emotions and feelings are heightened." He said.

"Well I don't like it" I grumbled.

This caused both of them to chuckle a bit.

"Nobody does" my mom said.

"And you feel like this all the time?" I questioned my mom. I don't know if I could handle that.

"Yea, you get used to it. It'll be okay Violet." She said and I nodded.

I really hoped so. I felt so out of control.
I couldn't control my magic, my ears, or even my own feelings. I hated it.
