I was listening to the song on top on repeat while writing this chapter and it seems a little fitting sooooo

Poor Percy. Never thought I'd say it, but he was abused at a young age, only to get bullied at school, get expelled, and witness the Fates end someone's life by cutting their thread.

We watched as Percy arrived at the apartment. As he walks in we notice Gabe is playing poker with his buddies.

"So you're home." Gabe says around his cigarette.

"Where's my mom?" Percy asks.

"Working," he looks up from the game, "you got any cash?"

Percy's voice echoes through the room, his thoughts, 'Whenever I was home, he expected me to provide his gambling funds. He called that our "guy secret." Meaning, if I told my mom, he would punch my lights out.'

I want to go up to Gabe and punch him in the face… possibly murder him.

"I don't have any cash."

Gabe raised an eyebrow and told Percy he probably took a taxi paid with a twenty got some change back, and then he said, "Somebody expects to live under this roof, he ought
to carry his own weight. Am I right, Eddie? " He turns to look at the man I've learned to call "Eddie".

Eddie looks at Percy with sympathy, "Come on, Gabe, he's just a kid."

"Am I right?"

"Fine, I hope you lose." Percy pulled out the money from his pocket.

Gabe threatens him about his report card, Percy walks into his "room" or Gabe's "study".

"Percy?" Sally's voice calls a few minutes later.

Sally opens the door and hugs him, "You've grown since Christmas!" Once they separated she pulls out a bag of candy and calls them "free samples".

Sally scanned him for a moment, but Percy called her off. His voice echoes again 'I was really, really glad to see her'.

Gabe calls Sally and asks for some bean dip. Thalia growls.

"Calm down, Thals." Jason murmurs.

"How! How can I calm down! How can I, huh?! When he treats my cousin and Sally this way?!"

"She's right." I say.

Everyone turns to look at me. I don't speak often, I used to, but when I do everyone always looks at me, it makes me… uncomfortable.

"Let's just… pay attention, ok?" Frank says.

We all turn our attention back to the memory, seems it's something about a beach called Montauk, I've heard Percy talk about it, him and his mom always go, Percy loves it there. Once Annabeth surprised him, took him there, a bunch of us were there too, well, not the rest of the seven or Reyna, we didn't know them yet.

"I knew it," Percy mumbles, "he won't let us go."

"He will," Sally says her tone even, she makes a deal with Gabe, she would make enough dip for the weekend, he would let them go.
