the group of teens decided to regroup at the local park, one of xochitl and delilah's favourite childhood hangouts. the older three had rushed there when they had received delilah's text, suprised to see both mason and the girl deep in conversation on the swingset.  what shocked them even more was hearing the laughter that echoed from the two.

"look who finally decided to show up" delilah stated as she paused to adress her cousin and friends.

"and look who's still alive" brady joked. he was reffering to mason of course.

delilah rolled her eyes, it was something she did a lot around the noons. "ha ha. do you want an award for that?"

"would you look at that folks" he commented to an imaginary group of people "she's back!"

xochitl pushed him out of the way, and climbed up the slide to sit down. when she made eye contact with delilah she signed, checking in on her other half. when the girl signed back that everything was good, xochitl let out a breath of relilef, hoping that she'd get the run down later. neither one knew deaf people, but they'd always thought signing to be a useful skill, coming in handy when they needed to have important conversations around other people. delilah had tried getting xochitl to learn french multiple times but duolingo just got annoying... and scary.

"sorry for walking out before" delilah cleared her throat. it felt like such an awkward thing to say.

"as you long as you're ok. that's all we care about" connor replied, she'd forgotten he was there. the words seemed bitter coming out of his mouth, almost as  if he didn't really mean it. his gaze went between her and mason. delilah smiled, although unlike when she was with mason, it didn't quite meet her eyes.

the teens sat around in silence, not sure what they should do with their time. "so what's our plan?" xochitl spoke up, attempting to break the awkward tension.

delilah shrugged her shoulders, not making eye contact with anyone. she pulled out her phone and started scrolling on tiktok. that was her way of isolation and it was such a terrible habit but it conforted her in a way she assumed others would relate to. the girl came across an edit of her last youtube video and decided it had been awhile since she'd posted. "we could film a vlog? or a challenge"

"what would the teams be though?" connor asked, referring to the fact that there was 1 more person than usual.

"shots going with xo!" brady exclaimed.

xochitl and delilah shared a look. "there doesn't have to be teams" the older girl stated

"yeah, we could post a poll and answer questions?"

the group looked at each other, agreeing that it would be fun to not be so competitive for once. they decided they would head back to the noons house to watch a movie and then film some of a potential youtube video.

"holy shit!" delilah excalimed. she was half curled up on the corner of the couch, a blanket was draped across both her and mason's legs. the teens were in shock, they'd just finished watching haunt.

xochitl slowly removed her hand from her mouth, turning to look at the others. "what the fuck did we just watch"

"that was actual so scary" mason admitted. brady nodding along in agreement

connor snickered a little. "you guys are such babies. that movie was not even that bad"

"are you kidding? i swear i nearly screamed"
