Death was a familiar concept for you.

After all, why wouldn't it be? You grew up in the times of war, when death lurked in every alley and every turn.

You had seen death when you lost your parents, both of them to the war. You had seen death when your sister had gone to work, and never got to return home. You had seen death when you had to kill the man who attacked your brother.

But even with the circumstances you were born in, you truly became acquainted with death after you had been drafted in the army.

You're not proud to admit it; the fact that you have taken more lives than you can even count. Every war you took part in, you always left the battlefield with more blood staining your hands.

But, when you first greeted Death yourself... It came to you like an eager acquaintance, awaiting to meet you after having heard of you from so many. After all, you were known as the harbinger of death all throughout your enemies and their numbers.

It was almost an awaited meeting.

You didn't regret it, though. You knew it was an inevitable fate, especially given who your opponent was. You were just glad that you had put on end to his reign... or so you had thought.

But you would have been happy if that had been the last time you would see Death.

However, after a series of unfortunate events, one thing led to another and you suddenly found yourself immediately thrown back in the world of the living. You did feel wronged... But to be honest, it wouldn't be the first time you felt that way.

Life was unfair, after all. That's what you had always told yourself. And that ideology of yours was what had kept you going, stopping you from spiralling into insanity.

You tried so hard to do your best in your new life. Either as a member of the Todoroki family or just as a person in general.

But no matter what you did... It all ended up to you meeting your old companion once again; Death.

The second time that Death greeted you...

It came to you like an old friend, showing up suddenly and uninvited. You didn't even feel it slowly gripping into your last breath like a leech, the blood that poured out of the side of your head and entered your vision, kept you plenty busy.

But that didn't mean that you despised Death's sudden arrival.

No... It was far from that.

Because the moment you found yourself in a completely white field, your eyes widened in surprise.

You were sure you would have ended up in Hell... There was no saving a monster like you.

And you had actually come to terms with that.

That you would have never had a chance to go to Heaven, to see your loved ones... That had been the price to save the world, after all. You stained your own hands to save everyone, so you were sure that one more sacrifice wouldn't matter to you anyways.

But the scene in front of you took you by surprise.

White surrounded all sides of you, an ambient feeling slowly encompassing your form. Your body felt like it was floating, and your mind felt clear.

Far more clear than it made been for decades.

And your eyes, ones filled with a bright light showing your hope... were fixed on the figures that stood across from you, a gentle smile resting upon their lips.

One drop turned to two. And two to three.

You didn't even realize you were crying.

You didn't even realize when the hiccups left your lips and the sobs began you rack through your body.
