Damian POV: Sunday, August 2nd, 2024
Today my Angel leaves me. She leaves me alone with these imbeciles and morons I am forced to call my family. She must return to Paris to attend school.
I think her returning is absolutely idiotic, especially after everything she has been throughout these past weeks. Kyle says it is best for her to go, it's a place that she is comforted and safe. Even with that, she felt safe with me. I could protect her; I will always protect her.
Especially since I already failed at it once.
Angel has gotten better. She has less nightmares and less panic attacks then before. That was besides the point. I need to be with her for her to continue to get better. I needed to know how she was doing, and a simple phone call would not suffice. I needed to be next to her, breathing the same air as her.
I asked Father to send me along with her, but he denied my request, and offered me a deal. She'll attend her junior year in Paris and then he will pay for her to attend her senior year at Gotham Academy, with me. But of course, he threatened me with never seeing her again if I went anywhere near Paris. So, I was going to go to Paris as soon as Angel left the airport. School be damned. I already know everything they will be teaching this year, learned it when I was four years old.
"Hi." Angel says from the doorway of my room. She skips in and lays down on the bed beside me, resting her head on my lap.
"Hi, Malak." I stare down at her and gaze into her beautiful blue bell eyes. They contrasted against her flawless porcelain skin so perfectly.
"What does 'malak' mean?" She completely butchers the pronunciation and I chuckle slightly.
"Malak," I annunciate, "means Angel in Arabic."
"Sometimes I forget you can speak Arabic." She smiles up at me, "Say something else, like a complete sentence, maybe I can figure it out." I very much doubted she would get anything I would say correct, but for her and only her, I would do as asked.
"ant noureddine zalami. shams lazli. al-khayr lachri. ant tjalni afdal fe gul janb. ant al-hawa al-dhay attinfse. bodonk alam anni sakhtink. ant gul shaya balansaba lee. hubb hayati. bdaiti wonhaiti palcamel. osahmik daema. ahibak ya mlacke." As I say the words, I mean with all my being, Angel just stares at me, her eyes squinted in concentration.
"Okay, I think I got it. You just woke up, so you're hungry, but you also want to shower and get all the sleepies off you. You want pancakes for breakfast, but you want blueberries in them. The blueberries have to be in the shape of a smiley face because that's how you have to start your happy day." She grins up at me, proud of her extremely wrong guess.
"No, Angel. None of what you said as correct." I bring myself to lean over her, her head still in my lap.
"Oh really? Then pray tell, what did you say?" She snarks at me.
"You are the light to my darkness. The sun to my shadow. The good to my evil. You make me better in every aspect. You are the air I breathe; without you I know I would suffocate. You are my everything. The love of my life. My entire beginning and end. And I will always protect you. I love you, my Angel." With my last words I capture her lips in a soft kiss.

We left my room after the kiss, ate breakfast together, then I drove with her to the airport. She thought this was goodbye until the summer. I knew better though. We wouldn't be apart for long.
"I am going to miss you so much Dami!" She throws her arms around me and hugs me tight. I wrap my arms around her waist, holding her close. "I'm going to call you every night and text you throughout the day."
"I'll see you soon Angel, this isn't goodbye forever. I promise you that." I pull her away from me, and gaze into her tear-filled eyes. I cp my hands around her tear-streaked face and give her a small peck on the lips. "I'll be with you every step of the way."
