After 3 months...

A loud explosion echoed outside of Survey Corp's building along with a body flying out of it. Gasps and screams erupted from the crowd that has been swarming in front of the gates since yesterday. All the ruckus caught the attention of a girl with inky-black hair and jade-green eyes.

Mia wore a confused expression before her eyes caught a sight of Mikasa and Armin at the courtyard.

They're back..?

She wanted to approach the gates for a further look, but abruptly changed her mind once the crowd got intense with more yelling and chants of 'Offer your hearts!'. Instead, Mia went home before her mother became more concerned of her disappearance.

Once she got back home, her mother was sitting at the dining table with a newspaper in her hand.

"Have you heard?" She puts down the newspaper. A headline of Survey Corps and Eren Jaeger's name caught Mia's sight before she responded.

"About what?"

"The Survey Corps, they're back from Marley. Jean must've been back too, right? Considering that he was one of the special operations squad."

"I don't know.." Mia breathed as a heavy feeling slowly settled in her stomach. She prayed that whatever nightmares she had during her nights wouldn't come true.

Her mother could only give her a sympathetic look. She knew that Mia would go through this pain when she felt a connection between the two. Although, she was in no position to stop the two from falling for each other as she saw her younger self in Mia, falling for a Survey Corps officer.

Before she could form a word to comfort her, Mia ran up the stairs as quickly as possible and slammed the doors of her bedroom. A slight jolt overtook her mother's frail figure, sighing as she decided to let her have some alone time.

Mia sat on her bed, brushing off the heat on her eyes that slowly started to crawl up. Her head swirling with possibilities that he might've died at Marley, but the thoughts became deniable as she held on to a single clue.

If he died, they would've returned the news along with the burial of his corpse. She would've been dressed in black, holding flowers and be the last person to leave his grav-

Before a tear creeped its way out of the rims of her eyes, she shook her head out of her overthinked thoughts and decided to lay her figure on the bed. Mia closed her eyes, shutting the loud thoughts that clouded her mind. It has been a sort of mechanism for her to calm herself, other than climbing on the roof at night.

She remembered when her mother nagged at her for sleeping the whole day after her father's death. Somehow, this situation brought back the same old unsettling feelings in her stomach.

As the sun rose and chirping birds pierced through her bedroom, she fluttered her swollen eyes open. A texture of her blanket came in contact with her hands as she brought her head up.

Mom must've tucked the blankets for me. She thought while guilt lingered in her heart at storming off from her mother. A cool chill met her body as soon as she moved her blankets away, glancing at the opened window in her room. Mia got up to close it, but before she could, she noticed a familiar dark haired figure walking in the streets in front of her house. Her eyes squinted at the figure before she realised,

Commander Hange.

Another unfamiliar dark skinned man in an unusual clothing (Onyankopon) following behind her caught her eyes. Without wasting any second, she dressed herself up and rushed down the stairs before opening the door. Mia almost called out at Hange but her figure disappeared after turning around a corner.
