"Why is this so hard?!" Beomgyu's voice rang out, filled with exasperation.
Yeonjun sighed heavily for what felt like the hundredth time as Beomgyu's frustrated screams echoed from his room. "It's not working? Why?!" Beomgyu yelled again in exasperation.
Across the room, Soobin sat at the dining table, deeply immersed in his Criminal Procedure Code assignment. He glanced up from his notes, irritation clear in his expression as he listened to Beomgyu's outburst, "I swear, that kid," he muttered. Beside him, Taehyun furrowed his brow, flipping through pages of his own textbook on Human Rights, occasionally seeking Soobin's guidance.
"Soobin Hyung," Taehyun muttered, struggling with a concept, "could you explain this part again?" Soobin leaned closer, explaining patiently, "Sure, Taehyun. Look, this section here is crucial for understanding..."
Another loud scream pierced the air, drawing Soobin's attention away from his textbook. Glancing over at Yeonjun, who sat in the living room absorbed in Sunday's newspaper, Soobin rolled his eyes in exasperation.
Yeonjun simply shrugged, not bothering to meet Soobin's gaze, seemingly unaffected by the chaos around him. Frustrated, Soobin picked up an eraser and hurled it towards Yeonjun, who effortlessly dodged it, lowering his newspaper with a raised eyebrow.
"There's a reason why I'm your Hyung," Yeonjun teased, his tone tinged with amusement and a hint of elder-brother authority.
"Can't you do something about him?" Soobin grumbled, gesturing up towards Beomgyu's closed door.
Yeonjun chuckled lightly. "He's learning. Let him figure it out."
"He's going to wake up the entire neighborhood," Soobin retorted, rubbing his temples in annoyance.
Hearing the commotion, Mr. Choi strolled back into the house from the garden just as another frustrated scream from Beomgyu pierced the air, startling him. He glanced at Yeonjun, who remained absorbed in his newspaper. "What's going on?" he asked, curious yet unfazed.
"Beomgyu and his classmates are working on their Electronics project," Yeonjun explained calmly, flipping a page. "It's been like this all morning."
"That's why I'm here at the dining table," Soobin added, "The noise upstairs is unbearable."
Mr. Choi nodded in understanding and made his way to the kitchen. As he passed the dining table, Taehyun stood up and greeted him politely.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Choi."
Mr. Choi smiled warmly at Taehyun. "Good afternoon, Taehyun. How's the studying going?"
"It's going well, thank you," Taehyun replied before sitting back down.
Returning from the kitchen with a glass of water, Mr. Choi casually glanced at the stack of law books on the table. "Are you studying law too, Taehyun?" he inquired, peering curiously at the titles.
Taehyun nodded, adjusting his glasses. "Yes, Mr. Choi."
Mr. Choi hummed thoughtfully. "Isn't your entire family involved in law? Own a firm or something?" he asked, recalling snippets of conversations he'd had with Taehyun's family at previous gatherings.
Taehyun confirmed with a slight smile, "Yes, that's why I decided to study law as well."
Curious, Mr. Choi inquired further, "What are your plans after graduation?"
Taehyun explained confidently, "My father has plans to promote my sister, Sora Noona, to CEO of the firm and my brother, Taeoh Hyung, to head the Seoul Branch. I'm considering taking charge of the Busan, Incheon, or Daegu Branch."
