The Street-Fighting Nerd- Rewritten

Chapter 4

•Jacobs POV•

The boys and I wanted to blow off some steam, so we decided to head down to the local arena. The locals in my gang have told us it's a pretty good spot to blow off some steam and win some money. Walking through the doors, we are hit with the cheers of the two fighters who just walked on the raised platform. Glancing around, I noticed that jock from some of my classes standing in a group near the bar.

" Cade, what's that jocks name from third period? I see him over there by the bar and wanna say hi." I asked Caden over the load cheers as the two men on the stage throw punches. Caden looks in the direction I mentioned and responds.

" I think it's Jake. No, wait, it's Jack. Jack Hart." Cade yells over the noise. I nod my head and start walking over to him. He's standing beside a man with dark brown hair in athletic wear, a girl I seen in class with dark brown hair in all white, and a girl in a mask wearing all black. I walk up to Jack.

" Hey, Jack, right? How do I get signed up for a fight here?" It's an honest question, since I have no clue. But I also want to get to know his group better. I've seen the guy with dark brown hair before, but he can't be who I think he is. He looks like one of the captives in The Vipers cells when I rescued my sister four years ago. It can't be though, so I shake the thought away. Looking over to the two females, I take in their physiques. Both are muscular, but the one in all black has a bigger and curvier build than her friend. And when I say bigger, I mean the girl in white has a slender frame, and the one in black is more broad and bulk. Not obnoxious like a bodybuilder, more like a well toned sleeper build. If you know what I'm talking about, then you've seen perfection personified. Her eyes, however, hold a mean glare.

" Talk to Randy, he's in control of the fights." Jack says as he downs his shot. The rest of the group does too, but the girl with the mask turns away from me and takes two shots. She really doesn't want me to see her face. Or she really doesn't want people in here to see her. I signed us three in before walking back over to my group.

" That was quick. Did you get us signed up?" Michael asks. He holds himself with confidence now, which makes me so proud. After everything his father did to him, his confidence was nonexistent and he'd let people step on him. Now though, he's stronger, he's not ashamed of who he is or who he likes, and he won't put up with bullshit anymore. I nod my head at him. The fight before has ended, the large man with long blonde hair won, while the smaller male with cropped ginger hair had to be helped off the stage.

" Next fight! TAG VS SHADOW!" The bartender, Randy, yells out. Shadow is Cadens fighting name and Tag seems to be the dark haired guy from Jacks group. They both enter the stage and wait for the ref to tell them to begin. As the fight begins, it seems Tag is being more defensive, maybe trying to wear Caden out. Tag blocks and dodges punches and kicks for a few minutes before he finally throws a punch. His fist connected with Cadens jaw as blood shot out of his mouth. Caden stumbles back but rights himself in time to block another punch from Tag. This pissed off Tag and he quickly sent a roundhouse kick to Cadens chest, sending him into the fence around the ring. And just like that, it was over. Caden was eliminated quickly, and he was still gasping for air as Tag was announced winner.

It's wasn't all that impressive, but his defense in the beginning was. Tag had stood strong until he was ready to be done with the fight. The next fight is between a girl named Lily and the dark haired girl that looks related to Jack called Nexus. I watched as Tag walked over to his group, said something, everyone nods back, and he walked out the doors. The girl in all black looked at my group before turning and talking to Jack. Turning back to the stage, Lily, a blonde girl, throws a punch at Nexus, who blocks it and sends one back. Her hit lands, making Lily stumble back. Lily tries and fails to do a roundhouse kick like Tag, Nexus crouching down and doing a spin with her leg out, knocking Lily down. Nexus quickly stands and is on top of Lily, swiftly sending a single punch to the center of her face. And Lily's out, meaning Nexus wins, and it's another quick match. I sigh. It's seems Jacks group likes to get shit done quickly, efficiently. Lily is helped out of the stage and brought to the in-house medic they have to get looked over. Nexus walks back over to the other two from her group, who seem to congratulate her.
