You woke up and checked the calendar.

[𝑁𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 27,****]

It's your birthday today. You look out the window. It's snowing. You stood up and did your morning routine; bathing, brushing your teeth, changing clothes, etc.

You got to the kitchen and saw Rindō watching a recipe vlog on his iPad while mixing something on a huge bowl.

You didn't put any mind on him and went back to your room. You sat down on the bed, sighing. "𝐈𝐬 𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐞𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫?" You groaned. You looked at your window again, gliding your eyes to the potted rose you grow and gave to him.

'𝐻𝑒'𝑠 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑏𝑎𝑑 𝑜𝑓 𝑎 𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑜𝑛.....𝑏𝑢𝑡—𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟 𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑐𝑒 𝐼 𝑚𝑒𝑡 ℎ𝑖𝑚, 𝑚𝑦 𝑙𝑖𝑓𝑒 𝑏𝑒𝑐𝑎𝑚𝑒 𝑎 𝑠ℎ𝑖𝑡ℎ𝑜𝑙𝑒!' You shouted inside your head. Pushing any other emotions that can pull you back from jumping that cliff.

You stared at the ceiling. You smell something burning, making you stand up from the bed and rush to the kitchen. When you got there, you saw Rindō's opening the oven and pulled out a burnt—you assumed was the inner layer of a cake.

You panted and went to him. "𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐭?" You asked when he placed the pan containing the burn cake on the counter with a sigh. You hold his hand, inspecting it for any burn marks which you saw a few present.

"𝐈'𝐦 𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐲." He looks away. Now you feel guilty about what you're planning this night. He's been doing his best to make you feel special, but all you did was turn a blind eye to his efforts.

You don't want to look at him. You guide him to the sink and turn on the faucet, soaking his hands with the cold water. "𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨." You voiced out. Rindō looked at you puzzled.

"𝐈'𝐦 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬. 𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞."

He looked at his hands that you're soaking on the sink. After a few minutes, you turned off the faucet and grabbed a napkin from the side of the counter, and put his hands on them.

"𝐁𝐮𝐭—𝐈 𝐚𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐞. 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐥𝐥." You added, smiling a bit. Rindō smiled back. "𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐜𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐳𝐞𝐫𝐨 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐛𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠?"

"𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐝𝐚𝐲. 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐈 𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐭." He looked down, a little bashful at his failure.

"𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐮𝐩 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮. 𝐎𝐟 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐝𝐢𝐝."

"𝐈'𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐤𝐞."

"𝐄𝐡?" Rindō asked in confusion.

"𝐈'𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞."

"𝐎-𝐨𝐤𝐚𝐲." He walked away from the kitchen, looking back at you after taking a couple of step, he saw you preparing to make your cake.

He was unaware that that kind of gesture from you will be the last thing that is imprinted on his mind.

A music box was playing on the background, chanting a beautiful melody of 𝑯𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒚 𝑩𝒊𝒓𝒕𝒉𝒅𝒂𝒚 while two bodies lie on the ground. A fool of blood was seeking out from their bodies. Lifeless purple eyes are looking at his beloved closed one.

A pair of feet approached the bodies. A trail of the bloody axe was being made by the same owner of the feet while holding the axe.
