Long ago in a world of wonders and sorrows existed a land full of marvelous but disparate empires. A forbidden love formed between two elves, a dark empress and a high elf lord. The rarity of these two races loving one another turned into rage and anger between their two empires.
After many deaths and days of war, the lovers decided to part ways not for themselves, but for their people. As much as leaving hurt, the dark elf felt more pain and anger after finding out she was expecting a newborn.
She tried to contact her true love for months, but heard nothing. With each day her anger toward herself, her love, and her own kind only grew. The dark elf kept wondering why they never understood their love, why it must be dreadfully torn apart, and how she will make them all pay.
As the months passed, it was time for her child to be born into this unfair world and be separated from others of her kind. Her mother regretted the kind of world she must be born into, and so didn't want her child to know it. The baby took after her mother; a fair dark elf, but her people saw the baby only as treason. Her mother grew to resent the child, leading her to make an impulsive decision.
One night she bathed her child, making her shiny and clean. As she wrapped her in a blanket, she kept reassuring herself that this was the right thing to do. Not only for herself, but for her people. Her child didn't deserve to have to grow up in any broken world, let alone her own.
With that in mind, she fled under the cover of night towards the thick, uncomforting, mysterious forest which never saw a ray of sunlight. With no hesitation, she left her child to the safety of the woods, trusting all the little creatures to take care of her and to make her one of their own. She took one last look at her sweet and innocent baby's face, and decided to leave her emerald amulet with her. Not only for comfort in something familiar, but in the hope her child would remember her face, and her name.
She then vanished into the darkness of the woods, leaving the poor innocent child all alone, never to see each other again.
Not long after the dark elf fled into the night, a small orange creature by the name of Varda wandered on her normal trail, unfortunately leading her to meet the child. She wondered to herself, how could someone leave their own blood behind. Without hesitation, she wrapped her tail around the handle of the basket and took the child to her home. If no one wanted the child what elf would be capable of having her.
Once they arrived at her home in the heart of the forest, she gently set the basket down, introducing her friends and family to their new companion. All kinds of creatures felt connected to her, as if she was the one controlling their heartbeat; as if her breath were the wind that rustled through the leaves; as if her dark eyes alone were keeping them safe from the light that would burn their home.
What will happen when she is fully grown, will she protect the creatures, that she knows from danger? Will she turn on them and destroy all they know?
