Scoff i can't believe it.
"You are telling me she is here? And will live with us from now on?" i asked in disbelief. All of them nodded. Minho hyung's eyes widened - "wow, its like having a roomie extra now. The count is 9 now. S-T-R-A-Y-K-I-D-S nine letters nine members"
"Hyung she is not one of us. And will never be. SHE IS A PEST, a bloodsucking one at that" i said and stormed off. I heard sniffing from inside the guest room but i ignored it and walked away.
Lisa pov-
I heard all of it.
PEST
BLOODSUCKING PEST
Tears cascaded down my cheeks, mingling with the sniffles that punctuated the heavy silence of my room. For a fleeting moment upon waking, cocooned in the warmth of blankets and the comforting presence of a rabbit plushie, I dared to believe I had found a semblance of family. But reality, cruel and unforgiving, shattered that illusion like fragile glass.
Stray Kids had extended their kindness, their compassion, in a way that stirred emotions I had long buried beneath layers of detachment. Yet, even as they embraced me with open arms, I couldn't shake the nagging certainty that I was an intruder in their lives—a nuisance, a burden undeserving of their precious time and affection.
The sight of Chan standing at the door, concern etched into every line of his face, accompanied by Jisung and the others whose names I hadn't bothered to commit to memory, only intensified the ache in my chest. Their words, a chorus of worry and care, washed over me like a bittersweet symphony, each note a reminder of my own inadequacy.
"Are you okay?"
"You woke up!"
"I made brownies!"
"Hey sista!"
"Sorry for leaving you in the orphanage."
"I want you to see Soongi—"
"Can I leave?" The words escaped my lips, trembling with the weight of resignation and despair. "I don't want to trouble you guys."
But they wouldn't hear of it. Their insistence, their refusal to let me slip away into the darkness consuming me, only fueled the fire of self-loathing burning within. And so, under the cover of night's cloak, I stole away, carrying with me a blade—a tangible manifestation of the pain that gnawed at my soul.
Alone in the desolate embrace of solitude, I surrendered to the agony that threatened to consume me whole. Each cut, a silent scream echoing the depths of my despair, as I carved my anguish into flesh—superficial wounds that mirrored the scars etched upon my heart. The edge of my hoodie became a shroud, concealing my suffering from prying eyes as I fled, driven by an unrelenting urge to escape the suffocating embrace of my own thoughts.
But fate, it seemed, had other plans. In the cold embrace of the night, as I ran blindly toward an uncertain future, the screech of tires and the sickening crunch of metal shattered the silence. I stopped in my tracks, as my peripheral vision caught sight of a car hit against a tree. I looked at it, and realised the car was familiar.
As flames engulfed the car, panic surged through me. "Tae!" I yelled, pounding futilely against the glass with my bare hands. But I wasn't strong enough to break it. Frantically, I grasped a nearby rock and slammed it against the window until it shattered.
Finally inside, my heart sank at the sight of Taehyung lying unconscious. "Tae, please wake up," I pleaded, my voice barely audible over the roar of the fire. Desperation fueled my actions as I reached out to shake him, hoping for any sign of life.
My hands trembled as I felt for a pulse, relief flooding through me when I found a faint but steady beat. With adrenaline coursing through my veins, I knew time was of the essence.
Summoning all my strength, I wrapped my arms around Taehyung's shoulders and dragged him out of the car, away from the growing inferno. Each step felt like an eternity as I struggled to carry his limp body to safety.
Finally, I collapsed on the ground, gasping for breath as the flames consumed the vehicle behind us. Tears welled in my eyes as I clung to Taehyung, thankful that we had both made it out alive.
But even as relief washed over me, I couldn't shake the fear of what could have been. The realization that I almost lost my best friend made me tremble.
