Aarohi Goenka
_______________"Wow, I got the sum right" A 5 year old Aarohi smiled and looked at her 6 year old sister, Akshara who was strumming toy guitar. To Aarohi, Akshara seemed the prettiest child just in two pigtails.
"Akshu! Apna guitar chor and see I got a sum correct" Akshara smiled at her little sister. She tiptoed towards Aarohi. And kept her hand over Aarohi's head, ruffling her hair.
"I am proud of you" Akshara said to Aarohi.
"I know you are always" Aarohi flipped her two braids - from right to left. It was her way of being proud on her own self.
"Tum dono ghar ke opposite wale dukan pe kyu gayi thi aur chocolate khaane ke liye mere piggy bank se paise kyu liye!" A 11 year old Kairav asked, his hands crossed against his chest.
Aarohi's face went pale. While Akshara choked.
"Toh kya huaa bhaiya, bade ho jaayenge toh aapke paise return kar denge na" Little Aarohi said, flipping her braids once again.
"Chup ek thappad lagaunga na, ye paise wali baat problem nhi hai! Tum dono akele itne dur kyu gaye...mumma-papa ko bolu?"
Aarohi gulped in fear.
"Aur Akshu Tu badi hai Aaru se tujhse ye expect nahi kiya tha"
"Sorry bhaiya! Pakka abse aisa nhi hoga...nhi jaayenge hum promise" Akshara said, and Kairav nodded.
"Par aapko ye bataya kisne" Aarohi asked.
"Vatsal ne! Usne dekh liya tha tum dono ko" Kairav said and Akshara sighed.
"Ye Vatsal ka baccha-iski toh" Little Aarohi went away to confront her two years older cousin brother.
Aarohi Goenka, the youngest in the Goenka clan was on her seat. Her number of exhibiting her project was late, so she was looking at a brother and two sisters trio which made her recall this sweet memory of her childhood. Kairav was always protective to both of them, he was a mini Kartik. Except, he had his eyes inherited from Naira. Akshara and her were considered inseperable in childhood, but she didn't know what had happened to Akshara who distanced herself from her when she was 11 and Aarohi was 10.
Aarohi sighed. It had been three years. Akshara was being curt to her. She knew she loved her and her love was far away from this "kind-of-dislike" thing. She loved Akshara too. A lot. After her mother, Akshara came on the second position for her, a mini version of her mother.
Aarohi shook away her negative thoughts and focussed on the extrovert student, on the stage, exhibiting her project confidently. Aarohi was everything. People said that she was pretty, family's favourite, a topper, she knew somewhere Akshara's favourite too. But why she didn't have a single friend beside her? Just because she cannot vocalise her feelings or understand other's sentiments. In a full fledge family, she found herself alone and empty.
She hated going to schools. She hated how dumb she was. And, she hated everything.
In the free periods, every student of her class used to sit together and chill. Some made fun of her, threw paper airplanes to hit her. And she used to sit quiet, bearing all this. Because she didn't have a voice? Really? What a stupid terrible idiot you are, Aarohi said to herself. Why didn't she have a normal school life like other children? Once her female classmate put a cockroach in her shirt, and it hurted her a lot so much that she could not stand a sight of a cockroach.
