I woke up feeling a bit disoriented, the unfamiliar ceiling above me making my brain scramble for answers. It took a moment before I remembered—I had a sleepover at Marinette's. I looked down and saw her curled up on my chest, her small frame nestled comfortably against me. Her peaceful expression made me smile.
Carefully, I slipped out of bed, trying not to wake her. I stretched, feeling the tightness in my muscles. I usually woke up around this time for school, my internal clock ticking without the need for an alarm. Quietly, I wandered around her room, taking in the details that made it uniquely hers—fairy lights, posters, and a collection of knick-knacks on her desk.
Feeling the need to freshen up, I headed to her bathroom. As I searched for a washcloth, my eyes landed on something unexpected—my black boxers draped over the laundry basket.
"The fuck?" I muttered, picking them up. These were mine, and there was no reason for them to be here.
Just then, Marinette appeared in the doorway, rubbing her eyes sleepily. "Morning, Senpai," she said with a yawn, her voice soft and sweet.
"Morning," I replied, holding up the boxers. "Why are my boxers in your bathroom?"
Her eyes widened for a split second before she plastered on a smile. "Oh, those? Um, I think they might belong to a friend. She stayed over a while ago. She likes wearing boxers."
I narrowed my eyes at her. "Marinette, these are mine. I recognize them."
She shifted uncomfortably, avoiding my gaze. "I... I must have mixed them up with some other clothes, Senpai. It's no big deal."
I could feel the tension rising. "Marinette, just tell me the truth. Why do you have my stuff?"
She looked up at me with wide, innocent eyes, tears brimming at the edges. "I'm sorry, Senpai. I just..."
I sighed, running a hand through my hair. "Look, I'm not mad. I just... I need some time to think about this. Let's talk about it at school, okay?"
She nodded, sniffling slightly. "Okay, Senpai. I'll see you at school."
As I grabbed my things to leave, she tugged on my sleeve, looking up at me with tear-filled eyes. "Senpai, please don't be mad at me. I just love you so much..."
Feeling a pang of guilt, I leaned down and kissed her forehead. "I'm not mad. We'll talk later, alright?"
She nodded, but the sadness in her eyes made me feel like the bad guy. I left her house, my mind racing with conflicting emotions.
At school, I was in a foul mood. Annoyed, angry, and confused about the whole situation, I walked through the hallways, my thoughts a jumbled mess. When I finally reached my classroom, Kirishima immediately noticed my agitation.
"Hey, Bakugou. You okay?" he asked, concern evident in his voice.
"Yeah, I'm fine," I grumbled, not in the mood to talk about it.
"Man, you don't look fine," Kirishima pressed. "You've been looking tired and stressed lately. Is everything okay with you and your girlfriend?"
"She's been acting a bit... off," Kaminari chimed in, clearly worried. "You seem distracted and out of it in class."
I clenched my fists, feeling the urge to defend Marinette. "It's nothing. Just a rough night."
"Bakugou, we're just worried about you," Mina added gently. "You used to be so focused and driven. Now, it seems like you're always on edge."
I sighed, realizing they had a point. "I appreciate it, guys. Really. I'll talk to her and sort things out."
As we continued our conversation, I noticed Marinette standing nearby, her expression dark and angry. She must have overheard us. I knew I needed to address this with her before things got worse.
After school, I found Marinette waiting for me by the gate, her arms crossed and a scowl on her face. "Hey, we need to talk," I started, but she cut me off.
"I heard what your friends were saying," she snapped. "Are you seriously letting them talk about me like that?"
"Marinette, they're just worried about me. And honestly, so am I," I replied, trying to stay calm. "Why did you lie about my boxers?"
Her eyes filled with tears, and she looked at me with a mixture of hurt and anger. "I didn't lie! You're the one who's making a big deal out of nothing. You're always doubting me, questioning everything I do. Do you not trust me at all?"
I felt a pang of guilt. "It's not that I don't trust you, I just want to understand what's going on."
She stepped closer, her voice lowering to a dangerous whisper. "You're the one who's changed, Bakugou. You used to be so caring and understanding. Now, you're just paranoid and accusatory. If you can't trust me, then maybe this relationship isn't what you want."
My heart sank. "Marinette, I... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you feel like that. I just... I don't know what's going on anymore."
She looked up at me, her eyes softening as tears spilled down her cheeks. "I just want us to be happy, Senpai. I love you so much, and it hurts when you don't believe me."
Feeling like the worst person in the world, I pulled her into a tight hug. "I'm sorry, Marinette. I love you too. I just need to work on trusting you more. You're right, I've been out of line."
She sniffled against my chest, looking up at me with those big, innocent eyes. "It's okay, Senpai. We'll get through this. Just... promise me you'll try to trust me more?"
"I promise," I said softly, guilt weighing heavily on my heart. "You're good, Marinette. You're the best thing that's happened to me."
Her smile returned, and she kissed me softly. "Thank you, Senpai. I know we'll be okay."
As we walked home together, hand in hand, I couldn't shake the nagging feeling that something was off. But I pushed it aside, determined to make things right with Marinette, no matter what it took.
Marinette's POV:
As we walked home hand in hand, I knew what I needed to do. His friends were bad for him, constantly planting seeds of doubt and concern in his mind. They needed to leave. Bakugou Senpai is mine... all mine. And no one can take him from me.
My mind swirled with dark thoughts, plotting how to isolate him further. If his friends continued to interfere, they would have to be dealt with. I glanced up at Bakugou, who seemed lost in his own thoughts, oblivious to the storm brewing within me. A sinister smile played at the corners of my lips.
I would make sure he stayed with me, no matter the cost. And those who tried to come between us would regret it.
