The next day Max and Liv headed over to Charles' apartment. Max was carrying the bags with the bottles, the drink mixers and the ice. Meanwhile Liv carried her coffee in one hand. There was this bakery underneath Charles' apartment that had the best coffee, Liv would always get one whenever she was there. She never drank it right away though, she would always wait until her hot coffee had gone slightly cold before drinking it.Charlotte, Charles' girlfriend for the last few years, opened the door.
"Liv! Max! Come on in" she said stepping aside for them to enter.
"Hey Charlotte!" said Liv happily as she gave her a kiss on the cheek.
They walked straight to the kitchen, which was connected to the living room. Liv sat on top of the counter immediately as Max grunted while lifting all the things he was carrying and placed them on the counter next to her.
"Don't you worry, you rest, I'll carry everything" he said sarcastically as he sighed in exhaustion.
Liv started laughing "I was trying to see how long it would take for you to ask for help" she said "Don't stay quiet and say nothing Maxie, go for what you want" she said with a bright smile.
Max looked at her, for a moment he was reminded of an old conversation he had with his father when he was younger.
"I'll make the drinks" said Liv jumping off the counter "Don't you worry, go sit".
They weren't in the middle of a party or anything, they were going to simply hang out in Charles' apartment the four of them. Liv made a gin and tonic for Max, followed by a paloma of Tequila for herself. They all sat on the living room talking and playing Mario Kart. Charles and Charlotte were just telling them about their ski trip they had just come back from when Charles asked:
"Hey Liv what happened to that girl at the club?" asked Charles as he kept driving on Mario Kart on a one-on-one race with Max.
Liv shrugged while she looked at the screen "I think she just wanted to be with someone in Formula 1 to be honest, I saw her flirting with Lando afterwards, she was cute but nah I don't like being used like that" she shook her head.
"You say that about everyone" said Max as he played Luigi on the screen.
"Well it's usually true!" said Liv indignantly "The kissing was also not great".
"It didn't look bad to me" chuckled Charles and Charlotte nudged him on the side "I meant it looked like a good kiss!" he said in his defense.
"Yeah well, I'm a great kisser" Liv shrugged with a smile on her face.
"Is that true Max?" asked Charles.
Max nodded, his eyes still glued to the screen "I can confirm, that is true" he messed up and his kart slipped on a banana "Shit" he said as his kart stopped spinning and he tried to fight the memories resurfacing in his mind.
Charlotte looked at them stunned "Wait what?!".
Liv turned to look at her in realization, she didn't know. Most of their friends in Formula 1 by now knew that Liv and Max had hooked up many years ago. They didn't know the specifics but it simply had come up too many times in games of Truth or Dare or Never Have I Ever. Once you're drunk it's very hard to lie, even with Liv's expertise. Max and Liv didn't care that they knew anyway, they would always high-five or fist bump when it came up.
"Oh yeah, we've kissed" said Liv like it was nothing "Like, many, many years ago" she said.
"Not just kiss" said Max as he quickly let go of the controller and placed his hand palm-up in front of Liv. Liv high-fived him naturally and he went back to his driving.
