I looked to see what time it was seeing that it was 1 in the afternoon. I walked back to my room making my bed and cleaning my room up.
I picked up all of my clothes off the floor and put my bat and glove in the corner of my room. I cleaned off my bed side table putting my notebook in the drawer.
I grabbed my sleeping bag from the other night putting it in the top of my closet with my school bag. Soon I picked out an outfit to play ball in later.
(The outfit)
I went to shower quickly putting on the outfit putting on my very old PF flyers. Soon enough it was turning dark.
I hear a knock the front door I grab my glove running out to the living room to see Liam opening the door. "Hey love." Benny said as I walked up.
"Bey Ben." I smile as he pecks my lips. "Hey Liam do you Ethan and Noah wanna go play ball tonight?" Benny asked. "Yes!" Noah and Ethan shouted from their spots in the sofa.
"Yeah let us get our gloves." Liam said as all the boys run to their rooms. "Benny really?" I asked looking at Benny.
"It's okay, love." Benny said wrapping his arm around my waist. "Okay let's go!" Liam shouted. "Momma we'll be back later!" I shouted before we ran to Smalls house.
Benny got Smalls and we all ran to the Sandlot. "Come on Babe!" I shouted, as I put my glove on. Everyone was in there places and Liam Ethan and Noah were all in the out field.
I was ready for Benny to hit the ball. Kenny pitched the ball and Benny hit it, we watched in amazement of the ball flying through the air.
Until our eyes landed on the fireworks everyone froze but me and Benny. Benny ran to each base and I ran to the ball about to throw it to Bertram but everyone was staring at the fireworks.
I ran to Benny not but he got to home plate. "What the hell guys?!" I shouted getting everyone's attention.
"Snap out of it you blockheads!" Benny said and everyone looked at Benny. We played a few more rounds until we all got tired. By the time we stopped playing it was 11 at night.
As we walked home from the sandlot, we were all exhausted but in high spirits. We had played baseball all night, and we were all covered in dirt and sweat. The conversation was light and easy, with everyone chiming in about their favorite plays and moments from the game.
Squints, who was always the joker of the group, kept us all laughing with his impressions of our favorite players. Yeah-Yeah, who was usually quiet, surprised us all with his knowledge of baseball trivia, and we all listened intently as he talked about the history of the game.
As we turned onto our street, the conversation started to die down. We all knew that it was late, and we needed to go home. We started to say our goodbyes, and I found myself standing with Benny, my heart racing in my chest.
