"Wie schön, dass du geboren bist"

It's 9:34 PM, a dark night in Leipzig.

"What the heck is this place?" Aya asked. "Are you sure this is the right one? It's so creepy..." She looked scared, eyeing the white, abandoned house in front of them while glancing around the surroundings.

"Geez, of course it is... They gave the right address, so this is the place," Gustav exclaimed, confidently stepping out of the car.

"No, it's not. You gotta be kidding me," Aya mumbled as she reluctantly followed Gustav.

"Where the hell are they? Where is Yanna? Where is Georg?" Aya asked, clearly scared but determined to stay close behind him.

Gustav opened the door. The creaking sound was eerie, as if the house was about to collapse.

"Gustav, it's empty! Let's just leave. This is so not right. I swear, I will smack the heck out of you if someth—" She was interrupted by Gustav.

"Let's take a look," he insisted.

"Fine! But let's not separate, okay?" Aya surrendered, sighing heavily.

The sound of their footsteps echoed through the wooden floor, the dust visible in the flashlight beams as they walked. It was indeed abandoned.

"I swear, Gustav, this is annoying! I will smack your fat ass if you keep playing games with me!" Aya said, clearly annoyed.

"They're just here. Let's check upstairs," he suggested. Aya, using her phone's flashlight, started looking for everyone.

"Yanna? Georg? Where are you guys? Hale? Kim? Where the hell are you?" she called out until a loud noise startled her. She remained calm and walked around.

"Gustav!!! I swear, if you keep playing games, I will—" A loud, eerie voice interrupted her, and Aya started panicking.

"My god, Gustav!!!" She hurriedly tried to leave but saw someone appear in front of her—a girl in a white dress.

Aya screamed in panic, almost fainting when suddenly...

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU~ HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU~ HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY~ HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO AYA!!"

The lights came on, and all their friends— Georg, Hale, and Kim—appeared, singing and laughing. The girl in the white dress turned out to be Yanna in costume.

Aya's panic turned into a mix of relief and anger. "You guys are the worst!" she yelled, but couldn't help laughing.

"Look at this! Look at your face!" Gustav yelled, showing Aya a picture of her terrified expression.

"Let me see..." She looked over the phone, a look of disgust crossing her face. "Ew!!! Delete that, Gustav!" she yelled, running to catch Gustav and grab his phone.

"I swear, you two will end up together," Georg exclaimed, shaking his head as he watched them.

"For real, I bet they secretly like each other," Hale said, laughing.

"Hey! That's disgusting!!" Aya said in disgust, crossing her arms over her chest as she glared at them.

All of them laughed and continued celebrating Aya's birthday in that abandoned white house. It was fun for everyone... or was it for Yanna?

I felt a chill run down my spine as I wandered into the back room. I could feel someone’s presence.

While the others were busy, I noticed something odd—a small door at the far end of the room, slightly ajar. Curiosity got the better of me, and I crept towards it. The noise of the party faded as I pushed the door open, revealing a narrow staircase leading down into darkness.

"Hello?" I called out, but my voice barely reached above a whisper. I hesitated, the eerie silence contrasting sharply with the laughter upstairs.

"Yanna, where are you?" George's voice called from the other room.

"Just a minute!" I replied, torn between rejoining the party and exploring the mysterious stairway.

As I took a tentative step down, the door suddenly slammed shut behind me, plunging me into darkness. Panic surged through me as I fumbled for my phone, the light illuminating the steep, rickety steps.

Back upstairs, Aya noticed I was missing. "Where's Yanna?" she asked, looking around.

"She was just here," Hale replied, scanning the room.

"Yanna!" Gustav called out, but there was no response. The laughter died down as concern grew among the friends.

Meanwhile, I descended further into the darkness, my heart pounding. I reached the bottom and found myself in a small, dimly lit room. Old, dusty furniture and cobwebs filled the space, and a strange, cold draft made me shiver.

"Yanna, this isn't funny!" Aya shouted, her voice tinged with worry.

Downstairs, my flashlight beam fell on a mirror. I approached it, and as I looked into it, my own reflection seemed to grin back at me with a malevolence that wasn’t my own. I stepped back in horror, and the mirror suddenly shattered, plunging the room into complete darkness.

"Careful, you can’t just come whenever you’re curious. Curiosity killed the cat," a manly voice from behind whispered in my ear. I turned around and saw a man. He was tall with long, dark, and blonde dreadlocks and a lip piercing. His dark eyes were intense. He wore a black leather jacket over a fitted shirt, his baggy pants slightly distressed, and his boots heavy and worn. His intense gaze sent shivers down my spine.

"Who are you?" I muttered, looking at him.

He smiled, as if he was memorizing each feature on my face, but at the same time, counting the pores on my face. He played with his lip piercing.

Upstairs, the group heard the shattering sound. "Did you hear that?" Hale asked, eyes wide.

But before he could speak.

"Yanna!" Gustav and George rushed towards the sound, finding the small door I had entered. They pushed it open and hurried down the stairs.

"Yanna, are you okay?" Gustav called out as they reached the bottom.

As I looked again, I saw that the guy from earlier was no longer there. How strange...

They found me standing in the middle of the room, staring at the broken mirror. "Yanna, what happened?" George asked, rushing to my side.

"I... was just wandering around," I whispered, looking around.

The friends quickly decided it was time to leave the house. As they climbed the stairs and rejoined the others, the atmosphere of celebration was replaced by an uneasy silence.

They left the house together, the eerie feeling lingering as they stepped back into the night. Aya looked back at the house one last time, shivering. "Next year, let’s just stick to a normal party, okay?" she said.

Everyone nodded in agreement, their laughter subdued, as they walked away from the abandoned house, leaving its mysteries behind—at least for now.

Inside the car, I looked up through the window and saw him smiling down at me...
