October 30th, 1993

After her unexpected get away with Alonso, Mina returned back to her LA condo she had things to catch up with as a manager for a number of artists at LaFace records. Tussling to open the door, she was met with a bouquet of flowers that had a card exposed.

My beloved Mina,

I hope the flowers remind you of the love we once shared.

Love, Alonso

A bright smile spread across her face, blushing as she reread the note before leaving to go to the scheduled studio recording that was marked on her calendar. "Hey toni, how have you been?" Mina asked before sitting down in the open available chair in front of the glass booth.

"I've been trying to call you but you haven't been answering any of my calls. Michael must be wearing you out huh? I always knew he was a freak." She laughed, as she moved closer to the booth. "You're crazy Toni", Mina blurred out in a silent laugh, "Am i lying though girl?' Toni winked.

"Miss Braxton, you have a performance at 11am, we still have to make rehearsals. Can we wrap this session up?" her assistant abruptly interrupted the conversation. "Alright, relax Solange, I'll try. I can work the background vocals later tonight." The music cues the lights begin to dim. Toni relaxes herself onto the seat before singing.

And I can't stop thinking about

About the way things used to be

And I can't stop thinking about

About the love that you made to me

And I can't get you out of my head

Touching the diamond necklace Alonso gifted her she instantly fell into a flashback of his sensual touches. The way he catered to her, the way he courted her. Resewing the connection that was threaded apart before they rejoined one another. Gazing her eyes onto the newspaper on the floor. She scanned the horscope section.

Libra,

When the truth presents itself

Don't fight it. Be cautious, don't allow

Your past to cloud your thoughts from reality

As Mina read her horoscope for the week, she was a bit taken aback. What was there to be cautious of? What reality? As far as she was concerned she wouldn't change anything that happened between her and Alonso. She hadn't thought of MIchael while she was with Alonso. Being in the arms of her first love was true bliss. It wasn't until now, hearing Toni's voice melt her tone into the song that she somehow felt a strengthening chill over her.

How could you love me

Then leave?

"Shit, what am I doing?" she sighed to herself as she browsed her mind. Instantly thinking about Alonso and his recent conquest to win her back over. How he made her feel like the main character in a blockbuster movie, but Michael? He made her feel like the only girl in the world. He was special, different from the other men she encountered. He studied every inch of her, patient and tender with everything regarding her. Was she just supposed to forget what they shared? Clearly that meant nothing to Michael seeing how he treated her dismissing her concerns.

"Hey girl, you good?" Toni asked her, "Yeah, girl i'm fine let's get you to that rehearsal before Solange throws another fit. I didn't even realize you were done with your session" Mina paced beside her after she opened the door that led into the hallway. "How would you, you were too busy having fantasies of you and MIchael to my song. I know you, you can't keep that man out of your head but I don't blame you." Mina rolled her eyes jokingly as they walked to Toni's car.

3pm

When she returned back to her office there was a letter placed on top of her desk. She sat down, cushioning her posture into her seat as she opened up the letter.

How could you run away from the person that once anchored your heart?

Nights without you are cold. My days are now clouded and soaked in despair.

Are you willing to give up all that we shared? There's things we need to talk about. I know I overracted but I am hoping we can fix this.

Please call me, your Michael.

Mina creased the letter back into the folds of the envelope placing it into the drawer of her desk. As she leaned back into her chair, a knock came through her door. "Alonso, I forgot you were coming." She got up to hug him as a smile spread onto her face. He placed a light peck on her lips before placing a light tap on her ass. "Forgetting about me so soon? Come on, let's go. I know you're hungry after the busy day you had."

"I want us to start over Mina '' Alonso feathered his words towards her as he skimmed his thumb over Mina's fingers cuffing her hand. "Don't you think we're moving too fast?" Her question tackles the fears composed within her subconscious. "Love has no speed, it just flows baby. Fate makes no mistakes'' He caressed his thumb over the tip of her chin and placed a kiss on the tip of her nose then her lips. "I don't want you to feel like it's all a rush but I don't want to miss my mark twice. We can just flow in the direction that fate leads us". Mina looked deeply into his that affirmed a genuine form of sincerity.

Her mind slight channeled back to the letter Michael wrote her. Slightly feeling like she was punishing him too much. The muscles in her stomach contracted as she remembered how cold he was with her. Something he had never been to her. Maybe it was the rush of how everything went on during and after the show. It all fell like a rushed movie scene. How was she to balance it all?

Michael's repetitive calls, her unplugging her phone in an agitated rage. What else did he have to say? Mina ignored all the long details that Alonso shared about his day. Her motions felt programmed as she try to keep up with the act of being engaged in the conversation. Her mind dazed on many thoughts echoed through her. "What am I doing?"
