Jai shuts the door behind him, the feeling of finally being home alleviating him. It's been a long day and he's exhausted. The thought of returning home to his bed is what had him excited to leave work, and coming home to Shekar too. He drops the keys on the bar table and his backpack on the barstool. As he's taking off his shoes, quiet snickers from the living room catch his attention. Glancing in the direction of the source of the sounds, he spots Shekar on the couch. His head is thrown back and his hands lay in his lap. After a few seconds of silence there's snickering again, his shoulders bouncing. Jai watches him with narrowed eyes and furrowed brows."Shey?"
"Oop-" The older man slowly picks up his head. Seeing Jai, his surprise turns into a dazed smile. "Hi," he speaks gently.
"Uh, hey. Whatchu doin'?"
"Oh, I'm just... just um," he looks around. "Just sittin'." He shrugs with a grin.
"Right..." Jai's voice is laced with skepticism. He observes Shekar, watching how he could barely keep his eyes open, and how he just seems to be laughing at everything and nothing. His movement is delayed, his limbs appearing to be too heavy for him to hold up. He asks again, "Shey, you good?"
"Huh? Um... yeah... think so," he furrows his brows and looks upwards, appearing to be thinking. He gradually pulls his head back until it falls back against the couch. His eyes are closed and there's a blissful smile on his face. He hums, "M'so... tired."
A yawn leaves his mouth and he brings his head up to look at Jai, giggling now. "Yawns are... yawns are contagious... y'know. Did I make you yawn? "
"Shey I'm bein' forreal, are you good?"
"Yes...? Yes. Yes, yes, yessssss," he goes into a laughing fit. "Oh mah God," he sighs.
Jai comes up to the lethargic man and grabs his face, studying his eyes. They look fine, but he knows that he took something. Shekar can't handle any intoxicating substance well. The memory of him sneaking a drink at his eighteenth birthday rings a bell.
"Mmmh, why... why you grabbin' mah... mah face?"
"The fuck you on?"
"I ate a... ate a... uuuuuh," he laughs. "I had a Rice Krispie Treat!" He gives Jai a closed mouth smile, the corners of his eyes crinkling. He laughs again, growing quiet as he rolls his bottom lip in between his teeth. His eyelids lower and it seems that in those few seconds his emotions completely shifted. Jai chooses to ignore that because now's not the time.
"How much you eat?"
"Mmh, you got, um, you got soft... soft hands." Shekar closes his eyes, enjoying the skin to skin contact.
Jai lightly slaps his cheek, "hey! How much did you eat?"
Shekar opens his eyes and his brows draw together, the corners of his mouth falling. "I-I was hungry."
"Shey..."
"I was hungry," he whines. Jai's brows raise as the unexpected tone leaves Shekar's mouth. He doesn't know what it is, but the sound of this man whining is something that he doesn't think he wants to hear again. It makes him cringe. Nonetheless, he pushes his slight discomfort to the side so that he may aid him.
"You ate it all?"
"I-I don't-"
"Did you eat it all?"
He softly nods, the frown on his face still present. "You mad at me?"
Jai drops his head and sighs frustratedly. Shekar holds onto his wrist for reassurance, his grip very weak.
