The next few days were calm. Life's been mad different staying here. Amaris been out and about, probably tryna get things back to normal. I've been bored out my mind, chilling with AJ, Kam, and.... the rest of his friends.
Allow it, I'm still tryna learn their names, innit.

Mm this bed is hella comfy... I wonder what bran--
The sound of my phone vibrating knocked me out my trance.
Who could be callin' me this early?
I groggily reached over, seein' Tyler's sister's name flashin' on the screen. My heart skipped a beat.
Shit! I completely forgot about her.
"Hey, girl," I answered, my voice still heavy with sleep.
"Des, why haven't you called me?" Jada sounded hurt. "You know Tyler's funeral is tomorrow, right?"
I sat up, tryin' to shake off the sleep. "Yeah, I know. I'm sorry I didn't call. Things have been... complicated."
She sighed. "I get it, but you were his babe. People been chatting bare nonsense about you."
"I know," I said quietly. "I just... I've been dealing with a lot. But I'll be there."
"Yeah, You better," she said, her tone softening. "How are you holding up?"
I paused, not sure if I could tell her the truth. "I'm managing. It's just hard, you know?"
"Yeah, I do. We all miss him," she said, her voice cracking. "Just make sure you're there, okay?"
"Okay," I promised. "I'll be there."
We said goodbye, and I laid back down, my mind racing. I had to talk to Amaris about this.
He had to let me leave.
I headed downstairs. The smell of bacon and eggs filled the air, leading me to the kitchen.
