Kei Karuizawa stared at her reflection in the mirror, the cool bathroom air contrasting with her flushed cheeks. She had just stepped out of the shower, droplets of water clinging to her skin. A sudden wave of dizziness washed over her, and before she could steady herself, she doubled over, vomiting into the sink. The stress and exhaustion of the island exam had caught up with her.
As she rinsed her mouth and splashed water on her face, she reflected on her situation. She knew her strengths and weaknesses better than anyone, accepting herself even if others didn’t. Despite her outward confidence, she felt vulnerable, but Ayanokoji had become a constant in her life, someone she could rely on amid the chaos.
Drawing a deep breath, she straightened up, her reflection looking back with a mix of determination and fragility. Whatever challenges lay ahead, she knew she could face them with Ayanokoji by her side. He was what mattered now.
Three days had passed since the Deserted Island Special Test, and the students of Class D were enjoying themselves on the luxurious cruise ship. The atmosphere was relaxed, filled with laughter and camaraderie as they recovered from the exam.
Kiyotaka Ayanokoji wandered the ship, contemplating the changes around him. He had chosen this school because of the "Contact with the outside until graduation is forbidden" rule, seeking the isolation it provided. Now, he wondered if the environment around him had truly changed or if it was merely a temporary respite.
Hirata Yousuke approached him with a friendly smile. “Kiyotaka, I’ve noticed you seem to get along with Horikita better than most. How did you manage that?”
Kiyotaka shrugged. “We didn’t get along that well at first. She doesn’t recognize me as a friend. The first semester just finished; she’s not the type who makes friends easily. Be patient.”
Before Hirata could respond, Kei Karuizawa appeared, calling out to Ayanokoji. “Kiyotaka! There you are.”
She joined them with a few friends, quickly crowding Hirata out of the conversation. Hirata picked up his tray, his expression unreadable as he quietly left.
Later, as Kiyotaka returned to his room, he noticed wet stains on the corridor floor. Curious, he followed the trail and found Koenji Rokusuke walking gracefully, clad only in his swimming trunks. The staff chased after him with a towel.
“Koenji-san, please dry yourself off,” the staff member urged.
Koenji dismissed the towel with a flourish. “I never dry off. It’s a principle. Here, have my autograph instead. It will be worth a fortune when I lead Japan to greatness.”
He signed his name on the staff’s notepad and handed it back with a grand gesture. Kiyotaka, watching from a distance, noted how his classmates often avoided Koenji due to his eccentric personality. As Kiyotaka turned to leave, Koenji called out to him.
