Our Common Adversary

Zeri's POV

Hesitantly, Zeri walked towards the entrance of the Piltover police station. There was no point in denying that she was nervous, but there was also no backing down now. It was her only shot to find out if Vi had been arrested or not.

Her heart thumped in her chest as she entered the huge building. The interior design of it momentarily made her forget why she was here. White marble floors, desks of polished mahogany wood, midnight-blue silky curtains. This place might as well have been a hotel.

Zeri tried not to flinch at the sight of all the enforcers in here, even though no one was paying attention to her. Some were sitting behind their desks, doing paperwork, others were walking around with phones, making and accepting calls, and she even spotted a few enforcers playing video games on their computers. And others try to survive in the same time-

"Hey, can I help you?" Zeri almost jumped at the voice of a young enforcer, who was seated at the desk right next to her, shooting her a curious look. Zeri took in the image of the brunette woman for a second. She had a very pretty face. Immediately, she scolded herself. You're not here to check out enforcers, dumbass. You're here to find Vi.

A few seconds passed before the enforcer cleared her throat and Zeri embarrassingly realized that she was supposed to say something. "Uhm, I actually wanted to ask if there had been any arrests last night?"

The other woman stared at her confused before she answered. This was probably the weirdest question someone could ask, Zeri thought. "We cannot give you any information on that since this is confident stuff. Why are you asking, though?"

"My sister, uhm, didn't come home last night, and since she loves to cause trouble, I figured I might find her here", Zeri hurried to say. She knew that it was a risky game to play, especially because she was involved in last night's 'grocery haul', but she had to find out somehow.

Before the woman could reply to her, another enforcer shouted from the back of the room. "She's probably talking about the other piece of trencher trash we caught!" A few enforcers laughed, the woman only pursed her lips in disapproval.

Zeri had just opened her mouth to ask what the prisoner looked like when another enforcer entered the station. She didn't know his name, but he was pretty sure that she'd seen him before - last night, to be precise. He had been one of their pursuers. Unfortunately, the enforcer seemed to realize that, too. He narrowed his eyes and walked up to Zeri to eye her up and down.

Technically, there was no way he would recognize her. She'd worn a mask and a hood, like always, and besides that, it had been dark. The only reason why she remembered his face was because he'd been the one she'd shown her middle finger. She almost let out a relieved sigh when he walked away.

But maybe, this was her chance to get into Stillwater. Even if Blitzcrank wouldn't like it.

"Don't recognize me, skunk?", Zeri called after him before she could think better of it. The enforcer slowly turned around, narrowing his eyes again. Zeri purposefully slid out her mask from under her jacket, just a little bit for him to see.

And now, he recognized her. "You", he growled and began walking towards her. "Me", Zeri nodded in agreement before jumping over the desk of the woman she had just talked with, starting an escape attempt. She didn't know why exactly she was doing this - after all, her plan was to get arrested - but she had a feeling that she might had to put on at least some kind of show to actually make it into the prison. Her just delivering herself was probably a little too suspicious.

Of course, with the room full of enforcers, Zeri didn't make it far, although she managed to put a little more drama to her act by giving a few of them bloody noses. Eventually, someone tackled her down and handcuffed her.
