Harper's POV
I was standing outside the house waiting for her to come down. I didn't knock on the door because I didn't want to look at Mr and Mrs Solace those old hags were the worst. "What kind of parents are they? I would never scold my kids friends for waking up in the middle of the night to drink water or yawning in the dining table." I tell myself.
After waiting for 20 minutes Ashley finally shows up. "Miss Solace is exactly on time and didnt let her friend wait for 20 minutes." Ashley stays silent looking at the floor. "Ashley?" As she looks at me, I notice that her cheeks are red from a severe smack, and her eyes are really red, as if she has been crying for the last thirty minutes. "Did they hit you? again?" Ashley nods. I take her hand and we go to a nearby cafe.
Ashley began sobbing as we sit in the cafe's corner, saying, "I just hate them, they are the worst, which parent abuses their child every day?" I tell her "Ashley, please calm down. Don't worry I'm here to support you. You're not so weak to cry." The waiter comes to collect our order and she eventually stops crying. I glance at the waiter and, my goodness, he was adorable but it was not the time to think about that. I gave him the order and the waiter left.
We then started talking "You're a really good friend of mine Harper, I love you." Ashley expresses her gratitude towards me and I reply "I hate them more than I love you." Ashley laughs in confusion "What do you mean?" I do not reply to her question "Ahh, the food is here your favourite ramen." While eating I struck a question to Ashley "You also don't like my parents do you?" Ashley replies shuttering "Its not like that Harper." She stops and I tell her "I hate your parents because they abuse you, my parents don't abuse me." I watch Ashley fighting back tears, and I instantly regret what I just said.
"I hate your parents because of you, you always support them over me, you always show me how happy your family is, your perfect little family." I reply "You're the one who misjudges everything, the only thing perfect in my life is my family, I'm not as attractive, intelligent, popular, wealthy, or flawless as you are so don't behave like that with my parents. You think I dont notice anything? I notice you rolling your eyes to my parents, purposefully shoving them , shouting at them and yet I haven't said a single thing to you about this Ashley." I exhale heavily.
"Oh this is where it is going huh?" Ashley smirks. I try to calm her down "What do you mean by that, I not saying it in a negative way, I didn't mean it that way. You know me Ashley I didn't do intentionally"
"Yes, I know you very well Harper." Saying that Ashley leaves to go home.
