For a better reading experience, use the link on my profile or copy the link https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/18-Kol7qmQjbIlcdVLu1cwApqLUBL3TQV?usp=sharing. I will also post as I go on the google doc, meaning that if you do not want to wait until the full chapter is translated you can go there. Overall, the doc is better since it has headings/subheadings, the translation notes are color-coated, and links for further context are available. But alas, I also put it here as an option. Enjoy!

Fool's paradise (3)

***Part 1

The Adam virus began to spread in a small village in Europe.

The black sheep who spread the virus?

The truth has long since been revealed. A French pharmaceutical giant, Adam Pharmaceuticals, released the virus to sell a vaccine they had developed. But the infection spread faster than even they could handle, and their vaccine didn't work. The world had been destroyed by a company blinded by money.

The people infected were called Adam, and the vaccine the researchers came up with was called Eve, which was the name of the vaccine the pharmaceutical companies were pushing.

The CEO of Adam Pharmaceuticals hid in a bomb shelter as soon as the incident broke out, but eventually got infected and died, and those who were affiliated with the pharmaceutical company also either died from the vaccine or got infected and died.

They used to think that the reason why humanity was in danger was because of nuclear weapons, but the threat came faster than they thought and in an unexpected way.

All of this happened long before Seok-hwa and the three soldiers in the jeep were born. On the way back, Seok-hwa fell asleep but woke up to eat the remaining peanuts. Kwak Soo-hwan also knew that Seok-hwa had woken up from the sound of squirming and eating. Outside, the sun had already settled down, and soon they would have to illuminate the dark and murky road with headlights.

"Anyway."

Seok-hwa's voice was completely subdued.

"The 7th Adam seems a bit strange."

"Dr. Seok is so pretty. He must have looked Eve in his eyes."

He told Kwak Soo-hwan the words Adam repeated, but he did not even see that Adam made such a mouth shape, and he showed an attitude of not caring.

"You said that the military police had already taken materials related to Dr. Oh Yang-seok's research, right?"

"Maybe?"

"Can I see them too?"

Kwak Soo-hwan raised his eyebrows.

"I'll ask."

If there were still any left. Kwak Soo-hwan also roughly guessed why the superiors asked to pay attention to Seok-hwa. It was to determine whether they could embrace him as one of their own or discard him. He did not know for what reason Oh Yang-seok had clashed with the superiors. It was not a fact that the superiors had removed him; it was just an inference he made.

Why? Because it was clear that the upper ranks were still wary of the deceased Dr. Oh Yang-seok, as seen in the messages coming down through Mother.

It was the leader of Rainbow City who first ordered him to track down the Garden of Eden. The connection between the Garden of Eden and Oh Yang-seok is just a connection he made himself.

Never before had orders come from the top like this. Rebels were known to exist, but they were rarely a threat. However, with the upper ranks showing interest in the Garden of Eden and even Oh Yang-seok, there was no choice but to suspect that the two were related.
