Warning: violence and someone is killed
Rob
I pull up to the house my hands shaking slightly so I hold them behind my back. Mitch would easily notice and question them. "Lachlan! Mitch! I'm home!" I call out receiving no response. After searching around the house I see Mitch talking to Mat in the living room. Ugh Mat. Not to be mean but I don't like him.Something about him seemed almost... off and both Lachlan and I sensed it, but Mitch wouldn't listen so we were forced to go along with it. "Hey Rob. You're here for the show!" Mitch greets as I walk in. Oh gosh. This can't be anything good. Mitch started explaining the plan how to get Vik to tell us information, but I gazed out the window watching the birds fly in the air.
All I could think of was Preston and how everything somehow reminded me of him. The clouds reminded me of his pale complexion, the dirt mixed with the green grass reminded me of his eyes... I mean the dirt did. His eyes aren't green at all.
"Lachlan." Mitch calls but it sounded so distant. I don't bother to listen to their short conversation but only here the door slam shut. "You guys ready?" Mitch asks both of us. "Rob!" He shouts and I turn to face him.
"Hmm?" I ask his pure annoyance evident.
"Just come on." He motions for me to get up and I do, following him as he turns on the car.-after-
I set an unconscious Lachlan on Mitch's bed before rushing out. "I gotta go. Bye guys." I shout hoping they heard me. Probably not, but oh well. I start up my car and drive to the hotel.-after the car ride- (sorry bout the time skips)
I walk up to the front desk, making sure to keep my head down, and ask the lady working there for Jay and tell him to say his brother is here. She nods and after a second Jay comes out and hugs me patting my back. "Hey, bro!" He greets happily both of us exchanging a smile. "How have you been?" He asks.
"Lachlan brought a "friend" if you knew what I mean." He nods. Jay was never part of the crime life, but he knew about mine.We ran away from our home in Canada when we were teenagers since we hated out parents and he went to work for hotels around the area working his way up the chain, and I couldn't work much since I was only 13 at the time. It was that one day... our lives changed forever.
"I can't believe this." The teenager sighs next to his brother who were walking down the abandoned streets.
"Come on, Rob. Pick up the pace. If you don't we won't find a place for the night." The obviously more mature one tells his little brother who groans as he continues to trail behind. All of the sudden a man springs out of the nearby alley grabbing the older boy and holds the gun to his head."Give me all your money." The man commands but Jay just shakes his head.
"W- we have none." Jay stutters tears brimming the edges of his eyes continuing to mouth "run" at Rob, but the younger doesn't budge. He was telling the truth though. They had no money."Then I guess we have a problem." The man states followed by the click of him rotating the chamber of his pistol.
"Pl- please. We don't want anything from you. W- we won't tell the police. We swear." Jay tries to negotiate with the man but a smirk plays on his face."Not tonight kid." Right as he's about to pull the trigger something hits him in the head. Hard. His body falls limp to the ground, both teenagers staring at it in horror. Rob drops the steel pipe that was once in his hand with it landing on the concrete with a single "thud".
"R- Rob. Di- did you just kill him?" Jay asks checking for his pulse finding nothing."Jay! I didn't mean to. Please. Don't tell anyone. I won't be able to handle jail." Rob cries clutching onto his older brother's shirt.
"Don't worry, Rob. I'll protect you." He rubs his little brother's head as he continues to cry. "But you need to run." Rob nods and the two brothers part ways not truly knowing what they would get themselves into. When Mitch and Lachlan found Rob he told them that his brother was killed by a drunk driver and he killed the driver. He did it to show he could easily kill someone, but the truth was: he couldn't. That night haunts him all the knowing he killed the man. At the time he didn't know he had killed him. He was just hoping he could buy him and Jay some time to run away.
He also kept his brother a secret so in case for any reason he left, they didn't have anything to hold against him. All he had to do now is keep Preston a secret.
