She woke up the day after her birthday with a frown. Her hair fell in front of her eyes while she watched Tanner sleep. His hair was fluffy and fell gently in front of his forehead.

He's not real.

She shook her head momentarily and returned her attention to the man sleeping in front of her, who had just begun to stir. He smiled as soon as he saw her. However, the smile was soon replaced by a frown.

"Wake up, Adira."

She shook her head as she looked at him with teary eyes.

"I don't want to wake up. When I wake up, you're not there."

He looked sympathetic. "I love you Adira. But you know I'm not there."

She whimpered and buried herself against him. "Please, Tanner. Don't make me leave you."

"You have to, Adira."

She opened her eyes.
