About an Hour later Luke and Rossi rejoined and JJ in the briefing room
"What if, whoever running the network is as good as Garcia? You know, our spinal cord guy knew the Sullivan's phone number. He knew when and where they were meeting their bulls. But so far, our remote Garcias have found nothing" Luke spoke
"If Sicarius and his followers are as good at hacking as they are at murder, we're in trouble" JJ followed on from Luke. I don't know who chose the name for this Unsub but not gonna lie, pretty catchy.
"Who's Sicarius?" Rossi asked, oblivious to the profile the lab techs had gotten off this guy, earning him the nickname
"That's what they're naming our shipping container Unsub" I answered him
"I'm not gonna name this jag-off. Fuckhead, okay? Call him that. I wanna know how to catch him" Rossi snapped shooting up from his seat to pace around the room
"We're going about that the same way we would a terrorist cell or a Mafia family, right? One case at a time and hope that our Unsub give us the whole network" Luke replied to him calmly
"Well then, let's focus on this case. Where are we with the profile?" Rossi seemed to be more calm now as he returned back to his seat
"Still nowhere on the jealous husband front. I mean, the guys that I've questioned, they're all beta males. Non-violent type. I'm beginning to think we're looking in the wrong suspect pool" Luke informed the group
"Yeh, I am too. Especially after watching that murder video" JJ let out a sigh of frustration "Okay, so sending the husband homemade porn is part of the cuckhold kink, right? The bull gets off on the power and control. That' why our profile's off. If we rebuild the profile based around the theory that it's a bull killing other bulls, I think we'll get further"
"Do it" Rossi replied, once again leaving us with the hard profile work as he received a phone call.
After he left, we began looking into the new profile. Shifting from beta males to more dominant ones. I looked into the social medias of the women trying to identify their social circle while Luke looked into the men and JJ worked on the Unsub's profile following the dominant male trend. The social circle was looking like a dead end. Both women didn't have any overlaps and Luke was having the same bad luck as me with the men. Unfortunately, it looked as though we just had to wait for another body or missing person, and an hour later that's what we got
"They took a woman this time. Are we sure it's the same unsub?" Rossi asked entering the room
"Yeh. Michelle Tucker. Lives in Fredrick, Maryland. Her husband reported her missing and police found her abandoned car at a Costco. Not a Walmart, but close enough" I answered, adding the new sticky notes and photos onto our victim board
"That's a huge shift in victimology. Why change now? He contemplated to the group
"I'm thinking because he had to. Look, we got the tox screen results back and the drugs that he uses for the surgeries are paralytics to immobilise the victims, sure, but they're typically prescribed to treat pain from a back injury. So if this medication is his, his condition could tell us something about him" Luke informed us, reading off his tablet
"There's only so many 200-pound men a guy with a back injury can carry around" JJ elaborated
"So, he took Michelle. Maybe that was out of convenience, but we can't rule out a personal connection" Luke continued
"It's like his kink got turned inside out" Rossi started
"What do you mean?" JJ questioned as Rossi started pacing again and I sat down ready for another one of Dave's long explanations.
"One side effect of back injuries is erectile disfunction. Our fears come out in our sex lives. We had to admit it but it's true" I laughed slightly at his answer
"No chance" I sniggered "nope. I'm not accepting that" I continued laughing awkwardly earning a raised eyebrow from Luke before meeting Rossi's serious eyes. I shut down my gently laughter and lifted my hand to gesture for the conversation to continue
"He can't perform anymore, so he's punishing anyone who still can. Severing the spinal cord is his only way to feel virile" JJ said connecting the dots
"Is the husband on his way in?" Rossi queried
"Yeh, just landed" I confirmed
"Give him our profile. Somehow, he and Michelle know this guy" and with that Rossi left again. Always in and out honestly. Can he not just pick a room and stay in it? We closed out file's and went to meet the husband. I led him to the interrogation room with JJ as Luke stayed outside watching through the glass ready to profile the husband if he starts lying to us.
"no no no, this can't be happening" the husband stuttered out in pure shock
"Mr Tucker we're doing everything we can. But our best hope depends on you being completely honest here" JJ spoke sternly. I felt bad for the guy, I mean his wife is most likely already dead
"yeh, yeh. Whatever you need" he responded quickly, still jittery from hearing about his wife
"Who was Michelle seeing last night?" I asked leaning my hands on the table that stood between us and Mr Tucker who was pacing around the room. He took a second to understand our question then pulling out his phone and tapping on it for a few moments
"This guy" he answered showing his phone to us. I leaned next to JJ as she showed me the phone. It was a shirtless guy flexing his muscles, I didn't recognise him but the number was familiar
"Wait a minute, that's the same number that sent the video to the Sullivan's. I'm gonna do a reverse image search" I took the phone from JJ "This is from a sexy fire fighters calendar. You and Michelle were catfished" I placed his phone on the table so he could see as well
"What?" he breathed out in disbelief choosing to sit down now
"Mr Tucker, Michelle was targeted for a reason. Maybe because you'd seen this bull before. A man who recently suffered a back injury who can't perform anymore" JJ mirrored the husbands stance and took a seat opposite him
"Does any of this ring a bell?" I questioned, also sitting down
"Robert Harris" he replied
"Who is he?" I continued
"He promised the best sex Michelle was ever gonna have. But a couple months ago, he got into a motorcycle accident. So, we found another bull" he explained. It made sense now, he'd been replaced and didn't like it, jealousy maybe.
"Salt in the wound. Telling him he's not good enough. He'd attack that" I said mainly to JJ
"Okay, we need anything you have on him. Phone number, address, car, anything" JJ told the husband who quickly agreed and resumed tapping on his phone to get that information. I got up from my seat to leave him to it and JJ followed. We grabbed Luke from outside the interrogation room and headed back to the briefing room to start our own investigation into this Robert Harris.
Once we received the address from Mr Tucker, me and Luke geared up and rushed to meet SWAT. His place was a two hour drive away and there is nothing worse than two hours with Luke in a car. I love him but just no.
"IIIIIII Wanna swiiiiiing from the chandelierrrrrrr from the chandelierrrrrrrrr" Luke belted out completely off key
"Luke! You even try opening your mouth to sing away, I will throw you out of this car" I yelled back at him. We were driving down a highway so it hurt to be thrown out of, plus I was driving so it wouldn't affect me at all. No hesitation.
We made it to Robert Hariss' place with Luke still in one piece. SWAT made entry and we drew out guns in case Harris was armed. The main house was cleared, and I followed Luke to a side room which revealed a woman, who I assume was Michelle Tucker, strapped face down to a table. She was screaming and crying. I untied her restraints and ushered her out of the building with the EMTs before turning back to Luke who was crouched down next to a now dead Harris. Bloody dripped from his neck. He must have killed himself minutes before we arrived.
