As I pushed open the doors to the bullpen my phone started to ring. I put the coffee's down on JJ's desk considering it was closest and answered the call
"Y/N, go with Luke, got a location on Green" Emily spoke rather short hand
"I'm in the bullpen, coffees at JJ's desk. I see Luke" I responded quickly ending the call as Luke walked past me
"Come on" he ushered, almost running out the doors to grab equipment. I raced after him, and we got in the elevator. It was a short journey to the bottom floor where we picked up our gear and I grabbed keys to one of the SUVs
"You drive" I told him, throwing him the keys and I walked to the passenger side while Luke put our gear in the boot. In the car, Luke explained what was going on and what Bailey had said. Something about, working with Bailey now and we're going to get Green from the last location his phone pinged at. We arrived outside a city park, and there were FBI and police cars everywhere.
"Commander, we need to take this guy by surprise. You march your men out there in full riot gear, he's gonna see us coming a mile away" I told him sternly
"We'll take it under advisement" He responded completely disregarding what I said and asked over his radio if anyone has eyes on. The audacity of this man. I cooled my anger when Luke handed me the tablet to track Green.
"He's heading into the park" I told both of them pointing at his dot on the tablet
"He's got this planned. There are only two ways in or out of there. This guy was military training. If he gets into the park, those people in there are sitting ducks. We need to move now" Luke explained to the Commander but again he just didn't care
"That's not your call. You are observers" He's gonna observe me kicking his ass if he's not careful. The radio started speaking again warning him about losing a clear shot in the park
"Whoa, what the hell are you guys doing" I asked shocked that he's ignoring us and that he wants to kill our best lead. The commander walked away leaving me and Luke confused as to what we're actually doing here
"I'm not losing another one" I told him, a small amount of anger laced in my voice
"Let's go" Luke agreed quickly as we headed to the gate without being stopped by the commander. The park was packed full of people, family our for lunch, not realising there is a guy, mostly likely with a bomb. We walked around for a minute to catch up to the tracker on Green's phone. Eventually, I spotted him over at one of the walk ways and walked over to him
"Hi, excuse me. I think I'm lost. I'm trying to get to the Lincoln Memorial. Do you have-" Luke tackled him to the floor. Undercover as a distraction always works. I drew my gun on Green as Luke had him pinned to the floor
"Where's the detonator" Luke asked him forceable, not giving him any breathing space. Before we could get an answer, the commander and his men came over to put him in handcuffs and hauled him away.
By the time me and Luke got back to the BAU, Bailey had done a press conference giving all praise to the domestic terrorism department for the capture and calling this a national threat bombing attempt, basically shoving all the network serial killers back underground.
I tried looking for the team to see if I missed any new leads but Emily was hibernating somewhere, Luke ran off as soon as we got back, and I think Penelope stole Rossi, so I headed to the kitchen to grab some coffee considering we still had to deal with Green. I poured the fresh coffee into my mug and lifted myself onto the counter to do some people watching. Tara was hidden in a little nook with Wilson, probably having a much needed deep romantic chat. JJ was... storming through the bullpen?
"We got a problem" She raised her voice at me, lifting a case file in the air. Realising she wanted me to follow her, I jumped down off the counter and now walked next to Tara who was also following JJ. She lead us into the interrogation room where we could seen Tyler Green through the glass. Seems like we were the last to arrive as well which is always fun
"The device Green was carrying was a fake, filled with dish soap and mineral oils. Completely inert" JJ informed us all
"Wait, what? Why would a serial killer be carrying a fake bomb? Tara asked in confusion, like the rest of us. It's starting to make me doubt the guy is a serial killer.
"I don't know" JJ sighed out "And he's refusing to talk"
"Why is this not adding up?" Rossi made the claim that Green was definitely our guy and him being wrong is an extremely rare occasion.
"CST found the actual volatile components from the kill kit all neutralised and made safe for disposal. He also tapped into the security cameras, monitoring entrances to the park" What JJ was saying now officially made no sense with our theory. Matching this behaviour to a serial killer doesn't work. It's more the work of a saviour kind
"To record what? There wasn't going to be an explosion" Rossi asked the group, mental exertion starting to take a toll on a few of us
"Not what, who?" Tara corrected, flipping through Green's file "Tyler Green spotted targets for the army. That's what he was doing in that park. Trying to lure Sicarius into the open"
"To get into that park Sicarius would have had to walk through one of those gates. Meaning, Green would have got him on camera, but we moved too early" I let out a sigh of frustration "Damn it" I huffed placing my hands on the back of my head
"Okay, hold on. First, we did what we thought was right" He nodded at me with comforting eyes, Rossi the dad doing his fatherly duties for the team "And second, hey, that's a big leap. Can you prove it?" he motioned at Tara and she opened the door to the interrogation room and dismissed the agent in there, taking a seat in front of Tyler Green
