This one contains changes important for the plot if you want to skip, go to the school area, that is where the main change is.I seemed to have run out of nails. Oh well, I guess they served their purpose. I picked up the empty box and set it down before leaning on the railing. I gazed out at the stunning sunrise. The sky was painted with shades of orange, casting a beautiful hue over everything in sight, creating a mesmerizing canvas of red and orange. But as the sun cast its light across the streets, more of the undead and dead could be seen. Blood spattered the walls, and a student missing half his torso dragged himself around, his insides spilling out a truly gruesome scene.
After putting in a lot of effort last night, I managed to impair many of the zombies nearby by taking away their sight, hearing, or both. I also intended to do something about their sense of smell, but I considered the other two senses to be more crucial. My plan for today was to gather information and persuade the individuals who were resting indoors to become less dependent on me. While I could protect them if I chose to, I had no intention of rescuing anyone who didn't have the potential to assist me in return.
I slowly slid the door open, letting the morning light filter in. The curtains rustled as I moved them aside to reveal Sakayanagi sitting by the window, her eyes betraying the fatigue of a sleepless night. Despite her disability, she always pushed herself to not burden me. When she noticed me, a faint smile appeared on her lips. "Are you finally finished? It's already 7:34," she said softly. I nodded and made my way toward her.
"So, what have you discovered so far?" I asked, my voice low but curious.
"Well, apart from watching gruesome videos last night of civilians getting ripped to shreds, I found a few interesting things. There are a few that have strange movements." She looked at me with a serious expression on her tired face.
"Yes, I saw one yesterday that changed its movements to match mine." Her eyes widened in surprise.
"What did it do?" she inquired, her voice tinged with fear and curiosity.
"It saw me silently walking and did the same. It was watching me; it even approached me without attacking. We were a few inches away from each other, and it looked like it was restraining itself," I explained.
"How terrifying. If they could already copy your movements, then it won't be easy for us," she remarked, her brows furrowing in concern.
"How many did you see online, and what were they doing?"
"Well out of the hundreds of videos that I saw, about seventeen. Each of them differed from the last. Some rolled out of the way of bullets, others even attacked without biting." It seemed with each word that she lost confidence in surviving.
"Good, it seems they're rare and don't appear often." I sighed.
"What would you like for breakfast?"
"Just some cereal would be fine if you don't mind." She said, with a grateful smile.
"No, it's fine, I was going to get some myself that's why I asked." I went to the kitchen and opened the cupboards. I grasped the box of cereal and two bowls and then proceeded to grab the milk. Once I had completed my task, I took it to her and sat down on the couch to eat.
"Thank you, Ayanokoji." She sincerely thanked me.
"Like I said it's fine." I began eating. "No, not just for breakfast but for saving me. You didn't have to and I can't even aid you due to my disability." She looked at her delicate.
"It's fine, just make sure to get some sleep. You won't be able to help me if you are sleep-deprived," I said, patting her head gently. Her cheeks turned a rosy hue, and I wondered why. When someone is exposed to high temperatures, their body tries to cool itself down by increasing blood flow to the skin, causing their cheeks to turn red. But it wasn't hot in here, so I placed my hand on her forehead. Her skin felt warm, and her cheeks became even redder, but it didn't seem like a fever. She also could be flustered who knows? Multiple other reasons could explain her rosy cheeks, but I decided to ignore it since she seemed fine and continued eating my cereal.
