Sol hurriedly rushes around her room, scrambling to get ready for school. She had stayed up late the previous night studying for her exam, and as a result, has overslept.
"Oh no, I'm going to be late!" Sol frets, hastily throwing on her uniform and gathering her books and supplies.
Sol's mother is waiting with a quick breakfast prepared. "Sol-ah, you need to eat something before you go," she says, concern evident in her voice.
Rushing to the kitchen, Sol gulps down a few bites of food and takes a quick sip of her drink. "I'm in a hurry, Omma! Gotta go before 'Oppa' next door caught me!", she says, already moving towards the door.
Her mother gives a small sigh but doesn't argue further. Instead, she steps forward and places a quick kiss on Sol's forehead. "Be careful on your way, and do your best on the exam," she says lovingly.
She quickly ties her hair back and darts out of the house, hopping on her bicycle and pedaling as fast as she can.
The streets are bustling with the usual morning traffic, but Sol weaves through the vehicles, determined to make it to school on time. Her heart races with anxious anticipation - she can't afford to be late, not with such an important exam day.
As Sol approaches the school gates, she notices a familiar figure standing there. It is Ryu Sunjae, the senior school president, better known as her neighborhood oppa, dutifully monitoring the arrivals.
Sunjae watches as Sol frantically pedals towards the school gates, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. He knows how important this exam is to her, and he can't help but feel a sense of protectiveness over the younger girl he's come to care for so deeply.
As Sol approaches, Sunjae steps forward, blocking her path ever-so-slightly. "Look who's running a little late this morning?," he says, his tone playful but with an underlying current of concern.
Sol feels her cheeks flush as she comes to a stop in front of him. "Oppa, please, I can't be late for this exam!" she pleads in her whispers tone, her eyes wide with anxiety.
Sunjae quirks an eyebrow, crossing his arms over his chest in a mock-stern gesture. "Sol-ah, You know the rules - tardiness is not to be tolerated, even for our star student." His lips curve into a teasing grin.
Sol's brow furrows as she looks up at him, her expression a mix of frustration and desperation. "Oppa, please," she begs, "This exam is so important. I can't afford to be late, not today."
Sunjae's expression softens, and he reaches out to gently ruffle her hair. "Alright, alright,", He chuckles," you'd better hurry, hmm?"
Relief floods Sol's features, and she nods vigorously. "I'm counting on you! I promise I'll make it up to you somehow," she says, already turning to continue her frantic dash towards the school.
Sunjae watches her go, a warm smile on his face. As much as he enjoys teasing her, he could never bring himself to truly reprimand Sol, not when he knows how hard she works and how much this exam means to her.
