"Go and sleep, it's already 2 am. I'll handle the rest," I grumbled, keeping my eyes fixated on the file in front of me.

"Nah, it's fine. Just a few more to go. I'll help," Shawn said, picking up another file from the bundle between us, covering up his yawn.

"That was not a request," I growled, already on edge due to the long day we'd had.

I could feel Shawn burning a hole into my head with his gaze and looked up at him for a brief second, wondering if he was going to challenge my order. But he averted his eyes and got up, starting to put the files he had finished going through back in the rack.

"How does she deal with you? What's this weird way of caring for other people?" Shawn asked as he walked out of my cabin, his hands going up in exaggeration.

I groaned internally at my link breaking again and raised an eyebrow, looking up at Shawn for him to quickly deflate. "I mean, whatever, good night."

Idiot, absolute goddamn idiot.

He hadn't slept well for the last two days, yet still had the energy to argue with me.

I went back to reading the renewed terms of the contract I was planning to propose, and another hour passed by. Finally, once the last file was done, I looked up to see it was already 4 am.

Putting all the files back in the rack, I locked my cabin and headed upstairs to my room, loosening my tie as I walked through the doors.

Exhaustion engulfed my body as I fell on the bed beside Angel.

My beautiful Angel with so many hidden secrets.

Even though my body and mind were utterly exhausted, I was glad I had work. The constant notifications due to security interceptions within the house, caused by Athira getting calls in Italy, had been increasing.

I thought I understood the equation she shared with the people back there, but maybe I was mistaken.

She still hadn't mentioned anything about the calls she was receiving to me, and I didn't know how I felt about it.

Maybe it was something minuscule to her?

Something not even worth mentioning?

I didn't know whether it was big or small.

All I know is that I trust her.

The fact that Athira didn't mention anything made clear that she didn't realize I knew every time she got a call.
