Stevie woke up the next morning with a bed sheet draped over her while simultaneously enveloped in Jake. His arm was resting over her face and his hair was all over the place, making her chuckle to herself. Part of their fort must have fallen in the night, so she ripped the sheet off them and let it fall to the side. Jake's mouth was unfortunately right next to her ear so his snoring was quite loud and she pushed his arm off of her, glancing at the clock on his bedside table.
It was almost seven and she knew Josh wanted to get on the road by eight so she sighed but laid back down for a few more minutes, holding onto the moment before turning on her side and lightly shaking Jake.
"Jake," she said, "Jake! Wake up."
Jake groaned and flipped over, pulling his pillow over his head, "Shhh, not yet."
Stevie laughed and sat up, pulling the blanket off of him and causing him to whine, "Stevie! Come on!"
"It's almost seven, Jake! I don't want to spend my last hour with you sleeping!"
He groaned again, sitting up and rubbing his hands over his face, "Okay, fine."
Jake sighed, swung his legs off the side of the bed and stood up, stretching and yawning aggressively. The blanket still laid over Stevie and Jake looked at her with a perked brow, "Um, come on lady! Up and at 'em!"
"I'm making sure you're up before I leave the room," Stevie admitted, folding her arms over her chest and Jake gasped, "You don't trust me?"
Stevie rolled her eyes and scoffed, "I know you."
Jake smiled and nodded, "That's fair. I'm moving, I'm moving."
He opened his bedroom door and headed to the bathroom and Stevie stretched and got up too, excusing herself from the room and walking out to the living room where she found Josh, organizing his stuff.
"Good morning," she said and he looked up giving her a smile, "Good morning, Stevie! Is Jake up? I was just about to go wake him."
"I got it," she chuckled and walked closer, "Need any help loading the Jeep?"
He looked at the stuff on the floor and scratched his head before nodding, "Sure, actually. Might as well get it out of the way."
Stevie reached down and picked up his duffle bag and Josh grabbed his suitcase and they made their way out the front door to the car in the driveway. When they loaded the bags into the back, Josh made sure to make room for Jake's bags too and he took a deep breath, standing back to look at the trunk.
"Is Jake even packed?" Josh asked, "I forgot to check last night."
Stevie shrugged, "I think so! For the most part, I guess. Let me go get his stuff too."
"He can do it," Josh snickered, "You're always doing so much for him, anyway."
She shrugged, "It doesn't hurt to help."
They both headed back inside and Stevie made her way back to Jake's room where he was back in bed, snuggled in the blanket.
"Jacob Thomas Kiszka," Stevie gasped and she could here him giggle under the blanket, "Man, I didn't think you'd come back so soon!"
She hit the lump of him, not sure where exactly she was hitting him, "Get your ass up!"
Jake sighed and pushed the blanket off of him, laying still for a second. Stevie grabbed his suitcase and started to roll it out of the room but he sat up suddenly, "Hey! Let me do that!"
She gave him a knowing look, "When were you planning on doing that, Jake? Tomorrow?"
Jake rolled his eyes at her and Stevie stuck out her tongue, "Believe me, I'd love for you to stay at least another week, but I'm just doing this to help Josh."
