Meeting Family

We're back in New Orleans since I got told just this morning that Ruby and Scrim were planning to go back and have a surprise dinner. We're on our way to my Mom and Dad's house first to check in on Mom with it being over 5 months since her rehab started. I knock on the door and gasp.

"No fucking way! Alex!" I grin as I pull him in for a hug.

"I missed you too, Luna." Alex chuckles as he hugs me tightly.

"Oh my god, I can't believe you're here! Ruby, Scrim, this is my childhood best friend, Alex Ret. Alex, this is my boyfriend, Aristos Petrou, and his cousin, Scott Arcenaux." I grin as I hold Ruby's hand.

"Does this mean I can't try to get you anymore?" Alex asks and laughs as I feel myself shift closer to Ruby.

'Why would he say that?'

"What? Since when do you talk like that?" I ask with an awkward chuckle remembering how soft spoken and goofy he was.

"I started realizing that everything was a joke and anything I say is a joke. So kinda like how I used to be." Alex smiles and I can still see the soft boy I remember.

"Oh, ok." I smile falling into it a little.

"Anyways, I wanna see Mom." I grin as I pull Ruby in the house.

"Mom!" I grin as I see her back at regular weight.

"Oh my god, baby, it's been too long!" Mom grins as she speed walks to me and I hug her.

"You look so much better!" I grin as I hold her tighter, realizing I don't have to be scared to break her.

"I know, I feel great!" Mom grins as we pull apart.

I let a tear roll down as I just smile at Mom, taking in how much better she looks.

"I just can't believe it." I chuckle softly as Mom pulls me in for another hug.

"I can't either. I'm so happy you finally got me in rehab." Mom whispers as she rubs my back.

"I'm just so happy that it went so well." I whisper as I sniffle softly.

"Now, I wanna see my son in law and his cousin." Mom jokes with a grin as we laugh.

"Hi, Helen, it's great to see you looking so well!" Ruby grins as he hugs Mom.

"Thank you! It's just great to see yall in general." Mom grins as they pull apart.

"Aw, Scrim." Mom chuckles as Scrim opens his arms to hug Mom.

"We missed seeing you. You've treated us so well and talked so highly about us so seeing you being well makes us really happy." Scrim grins as they pull apart.

"Yall are the sweetest! I'm so glad you're apart of our family." Mom grins as we all chuckle.

"Now, how have things been?" Mom asks as she sits on the couch.

I sit down and watch as Alex quickly comes to sit next to me.

"Alex, let Ruby sit with Luna and Scrim." Mom scolds softly as Alex raises his hands and gets up.

"Well, we've been pretty great. Ruby and Scrim are helping out with my music-" I get cut off by Alex.

"You're making music again?" Alex asks as I hum.

"Yeah, I've written about some exes and I've written about Ruby." I smile at Ruby making him kiss my forehead.

"Aw, honey, that's awesome! How's the writing and recording process going?" Mom asks as me, Ruby, and Scrim all look at each other.
