Getting over a breakup isn't easy.

Even though Bryson calmed me down, I called him last night after I got his number and continued talking about Adam. I feel bad because I kept him up all night. He was sweet enough to stay up. I don't think I stopped talking until I fell asleep.

Bryson and I promised to hang out today since we both don't have any classes. I got ready and wore flared jeans with a cropped sweater. We met at a juice bar.

"Hey, Bryson, sorry about last night. I honestly don't know why you approached me after I was rude."

"To be honest, I don't know either. You didn't look like a rude person. I can tell when someone's having a bad day. I sat next to you, hoping I could cheer you up."

"That's sweet."

The waiter came by to take our orders. I ordered a dessert, and Bryson ordered a green smoothie. I ate it all. Tears were falling on my face as I ate. Bryson asked me what was wrong, and I told him I was thinking about my breakup again.

"Eating just makes me more sad, if I'm being honest."

"Well, that's because you're not eating foods that give you happy hormones; you're eating your life away."

"But it's a juice bar; everything is healthy."

"Not everything. What you just ate was 70% sugar."

"Don't judge"

Bryson starts laughing. I smile a little bit. He's right, though. I have been eating my life away, and it's not making the heartbreak go faster.

"But you're right, I've been eating like shit, and I've just been gaining weight. I wasn't like this before him."

"Come to the gym with me tomorrow. You're supposed to be leveling up. You're free now. Show him what he can't have."

"Yeah, you know what I will. Im going to make him jealous and want me more than before.

Bryson smiles at me. I never felt so close to someone before. Adam and I could be in the same room, but he would still feel 8,000 miles away.

"I have an idea."

"What is it"

"We should pretend to date."

"uh, okay...but what is that gonna do?"

"Make him jealous, and when I do, he's going to want me back, and I'm going to get back with him and break his heart."

"Is that what you want to do? You can always move on and remove yourself from the situation."

"That would be no fun."

Bryson shrugs. "I mean, if that's what you truly want."

we continue to have a good time; before we know it, it's dark. Bryson walks me to my car. We talk about our plan and how it's gonna go. We have to get comfortable with being touchy. We get to my car, and he opens the door for me.

"Thank you"

He kisses my cheek and says, "You're welcome, baby."

I blush, and he laughs, closing the door.

"Don't forget to buckle up," he says as he walks away.

I laugh as I buckle my seatbelt. As I went home, I could only think about the kiss on the cheek he had given me. This is going to be good. It felt real, and it must have looked real, too. It was so gentile and soft.

When I got home, I brushed my teeth and took a shower. I was excited to go to the gym tomorrow with Bryson. If I'm being honest, it's been years.

4:00 am Thursday

Bryson: Hey, could you send me your address? I'll pick you up for the gym.

4:07 am

Bryson: ???

Asia: Hey, yeah, sorry. I was brushing my teeth.
It's **************

Bryson: All right, I'm on my way. I brought you a smoothie.

Asia: aw, thanks, babe ☺️

Bryson: you're welcome :)

Asia: you're having too much fun with this 😭

Bryson: It's your plan 😂

Bryson: But I'll be there soon. Also, since your place is closer to school, I'll get ready for school there. Is that okay?

Asia: Yeah, of course. It's the least I could do since you got me that membership.

Bryson: Alright.
