Kuguri lent out his hand to the rattled boy he had just slammed a volleyball into. Shibayama wasn't going to turn down the help since he did not think he could get up on his own. He slowly raised one hand, the other resting on his aching face.
"Thank you.." Yuuki had mumbled under his breath. He hoped nobody could tell his face wasn't red solely because of the ball. He could feel the warmth rush to his face as the taller boy grabbed his hand and pulled him up.
Kuguri did not hear what the other boy had said. He could not hear anything. On the outside he may have seemed like he couldn't care less but his mind was franticly trying to get it together. What did I just do.. Replayed in his mind. It was the only thing he could hear. His body had been on autopilot so he didn't realized he had no idea where he was going. They had made it out of the gym and he needed directions. He turned to the injured boy awkwardly.
"Uhm. Could you show me where the nurse's office is. I forgot I haven't been here before"
Shibiyama had shifted his weight slightly from Kuguris side when he raised the hand that was previously covering his red face to point in a general direction ahead of them. The realization had just hit Kuguri that he was basically carrying Shibiyama the entire time, painting his face an unnoticeable shade of pink.
Though Kuguri had not noticed the physical exchange between the two, it was all Shibiyama had been thinking about the entire walk. When Kuguri had pulled him up to start walking to the office, he had staggered initially. This had caused him to fall into the side of Kuguri, who had unknowingly wrapped an arm around his shoulder, pulling him in to walk him to the nurse. The red from the volleyball had left long ago but had been replaced by the blush from the exchange.
Kuguri more conscious of his body had led Shibiyama blindly in the general direction until he felt a pull on his shirt.
"This is the nurses office. Thank you for your help." Shibiyama had muttered as he was about to walk away.
"It was my fault anyway. I may have gotten a little too caught up in the game." Kuguri awkwardly shuffled. The confidence he had earlier nowhere to be seen.
"I think i was caught up in anything except the game!" Shibiyama said, as his energy crept back into his body. The injury was the last thing he was thinking about after that walk.
"Well I hope your face isn't the target of my next spike. For both of our sakes"
"We'll see at the next practice. I'll see you later stranger!" Shibiyama had said before walking into the nurses office.
Why does that sound familiar... Kuguri thought to himself on the walk back to the gym.
