I thought summer break was supposed to be magical, but it was exhausting.

Exhausting seeing him with her when I wish it was me.

"Ellie!" Sienna snapped me out of my thoughts, "common, we have to go everyones waiting downstairs."

This evening we'd plan to go to a village festival, so it's basically a big party with hundreds of people in a village.

The amazing part though, was that Lana wasn't coming because her mom didn't let her come.

I took a deep breath, shaking off the lingering thoughts of Enzo. "Yeah, I'm coming," I replied, forcing a smile.

As we headed downstairs, the sound of laughter and chatter filled the air.

Reece, Enzo, and a few other friends were waiting by the door, ready to head out. Enzo caught my eye for a brief moment before looking away.

I couldn't help but feel a mix of relief and tension at the sight of him.

"Alright, let's get going," Reece said, leading the way to the cars.

The drive to the village festival was filled with excited chatter and music.

Sienna kept trying to lift my spirits, and I appreciated her efforts. By the time we arrived, the sun was setting, casting a golden glow over the bustling festival.

Lights strung across the village square, illuminating food stalls, game booths, and a makeshift dance floor.

The air was filled with the aroma of grilled food and the sound of live music.

"This looks amazing," Sienna said, her eyes wide with excitement.

"Yeah, it really does," I agreed, feeling a bit of my earlier tension ease.

As we wandered through the festival, we played games, ate delicious food, and danced to the lively music.

For a while, I was able to forget about the complicated mess with Enzo and just enjoy the evening.

Eventually, we found ourselves near the edge of the festival, where a group of people had gathered to watch the fireworks.

Sienna nudged me and pointed to an empty spot on the grass. "Let's sit here."

We settled down, and I noticed Enzo sitting a little distance away with Reece. He glanced over at me, and our eyes met briefly before he looked away again.

The first firework shot into the sky, exploding in a burst of colors. The crowd was amazed, and for a moment, everything else faded away.

But as the fireworks continued, I couldn't help but steal glances at Enzo, wondering what he was thinking.

When the fireworks ended, people began to disperse, heading back to the main area of the festival. Sienna stood up, stretching. "I'm going to get another drink. Want to come?"

"I'll catch up," I said, needing a moment alone.

She nodded and headed off, leaving me alone in the dimming light. I took a deep breath, trying to steady my thoughts. Suddenly, I felt a presence beside me.
